Alone among their British Invasion cohorts, Chad Stuart and Jeremy Clyde came directly out of the folk clubs of London. The duo specialized in folk-tinged acoustic guitar-based soft pop, like Simon and Garfunkel crossed with a dash of Petula Clark.
Because Chad And Jeremy only released a few albums and didn't have much US chart success beyond the lilting "A Summer Song" and the sprightly "Yesterday's Gone," the several available anthologies all contain pretty much the same material, such as their superior cover of Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas' Lennon-McCartney-penned hit "From a Window." While THE VERY BEST OF CHAD AND JEREMY covers most of this same material, it adds a few tracks not available on other compilations, including "Before and After," the wistful "Distant Shores," and the surprisingly rocking "Teenage Failure."

Very Best Of Chad & Jeremy Music Very Best Of Chad & Jeremy Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Absolutely awesome! Had been trying for a long time to find a CD of all their hits & the others I found had too many songs missing and too many songs that I never heard before. This is the only CD you need to get. Excellent quality. I am REALLY happy with it! Submitted by uscfan (Grants Pass, OR, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Why No UK Hits? I've been a music fan for 40 odd years now, I'd read about Chad & Jeremy in various reference books, and the constant reference to them being a copy of Peter & Gordon, with a pleasant similar vocal capabilities, but I confess to never hearing any of their music. I heard 'Yesterday's Gone' on the top rated UK oldies show, Sounds of the Sixties recently and was immediately hooked on what did indeed sound like Peter & Gordon. I ordered this CD on the strength of just one track, something I've done many times in the past, often to be disappointed by other lesser known tracks. On this occasion, I was very impressed with the overall sound of all the tracks. I'd recommend this to any 60's music enthusiast very highly. Just two minor problems, was it just a mistake that a picture of Peter & Gordon was shown in the booklet, and also, the sleeve notes refer to Chad and Jeremy having hits in the UK. None of the UK reference books in my collection credit them with any chart success, which is a great shame. Submitted by Graham (Skellingthorpe, Lincolnshire, U.K.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Brian Culbertson Come On Up CD (2003)
Very Best Of Chad & Jeremy
$9.29 Though young jazzer Brian Culbertson's boyish good looks make it tempting to lump him in with Harry Connick, Jr.-like neophytes Michael Buble and Peter Cincotti, this Illinois native is actually an instrumentalist who's been plying his trade since putting out the self-released debut LONG NIGHT OUT. COME ON UP is Culbertson's seventh album, and for this outing, he goes for a funkier sound that harkens back to a childhood spent cutting his teeth on the sounds of early Chicago, Blood, Sweat & Tears, and Tower of Power. Weaving an R&B-flavored thread throughout these dozen songs, Culbertson cuts loose with a few special guests including saxophonist Steve Cole, (the brassy "Say What?"), trumpeter Rick Braun (a sultry "Last Night"), guitarist Norman Brown (the crackling "Come On Up"), and R&B vocalist Rahsaan Patterson (the soulful "Fly High"). The centerpiece of this album turns out to be a sinewy instrumental reading of the Earth, Wind & Fire nugget "Serpentine Fire." Despite the lite-jazz designation this album will undoubtedly get when it hits record store bins, COME ON UP is trimmed with enough funky snap to put it beyond the flavorless stereotype this genre sometimes conjures up.
