A Powerful Musical Experience
Aho's symphonies are BIG -- grandiose, intense, dramatic structures in the Northern mode. His stylistic antecedents are of the likes of Mahler and Shostakovich -- influences apparent from his First Symphony, composed in his early 20s, to this Tenth Symphony from his late 40s.

Grandiose Music!
The music of Aho on that CD is easy to understand, to appreciate and, of course, to listen at. The sound is magnificent.
