| One More Megabyte Music Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) Punks or closet metalheads? Above and beyond the very British cheeky humor of this CD, lies some incredibly tight playing, "guitar flash" included. Many of the licks, pinched harmonics included, seem quintessentially 'metal' and the harmony vocals outright culled from old, Queen records. Not that this is a bad thing, mind you, but to consider these guys as mere punk rockers is about as wayward a notion as one could get. Hopefully, they haven't deceived themselves of the same. Buy, hey, it rocks like crazy, so go buy it. Submitted by a reviewer (Sacramento, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Not quite on the level of "Absurd Ditties", but still great. The instant classics "Me'N'John Williams", "When Garry Married Melanie", and "The Memory of Nobby" plus three great covers (and y'all know that the Toy Dolls are the best cover band this side of the Dickies) make this mundo essential. If you're new to the sounds of Olga & Co., (and if so, where the hell have you been?) then "Dig That Groove" is the place to start, though. One More Megabyte
$6.09 In 1975, Reuniting with longtime producer Bob Ezrin (who was absent for Cooper's prior record, MUSCLE OF LOVE), Cooper released an album whose title explains the subject matter--WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE. Now on his own and in total control, Cooper was able to explore rock theatrics in a way that was impossible in his band. The ensuing tour was one of the most over-the-top excursions of that era.
"Cold Ethyl" is a disturbing little ditty about necrophilia. The soft, melodic "Only Women Bleed" became a surprise smash for Alice, and there's a low-key feel as well on the chilling "Steven." The somewhat funky title track works as a kind of theme song, while Cooper's expected heavy metal tendencies are explored on "The Black Widow." Most of Lou Reed's band joined Cooper for this record. Guitarists Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner, as well as bassist Prakash John do a superb job of replicating the excitement of the original band.
After the band known as Alice Cooper broke up, the band's singer/namesake took the moniker on for his first solo album. In 1975, Reuniting with longtime producer Bob Ezrin (who was absent for Cooper's prior record, MUSCLE OF LOVE), Cooper released an album whose title says it all--WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE. | | Spinanes Imp Years CD (2000)
One More Megabyte
$9.49 The Spinanes had a particular acumen for deprived sanguine college rock that was as reclusive as their deprived and sanguine fanbase, although Imp Years proved the band was far more caustic than most people gave them credit for. Collecting the band's 1992 pre-Sub Pop 7" singles, this diminutive compilation crawls with abruptness and melancholy. ...

| | Leslie West Theme CD (1988)
One More Megabyte
$14.85 Leslie West first picked up a guitar in anger as it were in the sixties when he was a member of the Vagrants. The Vagrants were just one of many bands on the club circuit on Long Island during the sixties. Two other bands were the Young Rascals and The Hassles, which featured a young Billy Joel. Many people however will remember Leslie West as a founder member of Mountain alongside Felix Papalardi and long time (although not founder) drummer Corky Laing. In fact, aside from a short period of time during ...
