| | John Hammond Wicked Grin CD (2001)
Oh, My Goodness! CD music
$8.85 For WICKED GRIN, John Hammond takes a break from interpreting the likes of Sleepy John Estes and Blind Lemon Jefferson to have a go at the canon of good friend Tom Waits. Further authenticating this project is Waits's involvement as producer and musician. Rounding out the cast on this impressive project are Sir Douglas Quintet keyboardist Augie Meyers, harp legend Charlie Musselwhite, Canned Heat's Larry Taylor, and Fabulous Thunderbird Stephen Hodges on skins.
Turning to albums like RAIN DOGS, SWORDFISHTROMBONES, and BONE MACHINE for source material, Hammond used his pliable baritone and tasty fretwork to inhabit the characters and seedy scenarios of these songs. Druggies and prostitutes come to life in the 12-bar blues dirge that is "Heart Attack and Vine," while the ...
| | Bing Crosby Holiday Inn & White Christmas CD (2005) (Import) Germany
Oh, My Goodness! music CDs
$15.05 Unique collection by this clutch of definitive vocalists' well known material; includes Bing Crosby's universally popular 1952 version of "White Christmas." German import.
The British arm of the Universal label marked the 60th anniversary of the release of the film Holiday Inn in 1942 with this 2002 CD pairing the "soundtrack" (actually, studio) recordings associated with the film and those for the 1954 movie White Christmas, which is sometimes cited as a partial remake of the earlier picture. (Both films are buddy pictures featuring Bing Crosby; both concern a sort of inn-cum-nightclub in New England; both have song scores by Irving Berlin; and both boast the song "White Christmas.") Crosby pairs with Fred Astaire in Holiday Inn -- and with Danny Kaye in White Christmas -- and it is Crosby who dominates here, singing not only "White Christmas," but also memorable tunes including "Be Careful, It's My Heart" and "Count Your Blessings Instead ...
| | Rosemary Clooney From Bing To Billie CDs (2004)
Oh, My Goodness! songs
$8.39 Rosemary Clooney's career had faltered after the mid-'60s, so her signing in 1977 by Concord Jazz launched a comeback that found her recording regularly for them until shortly before her death in 2002. This two-CD compilation combines two of her earliest recordings for the label. The first date, recorded in early 1978, is a tribute to her dear friend Bing Crosby (who had died a few months prior to the session), with whom she had appeared ...

Oh, My Goodness! songs
$10.39 When Counting Crows emerged in the early 1990s with a folk-rock sound that seemed to hearken back to Van Morrison and Bob Dylan, they represented for many a welcome alternative to the dour, sludgy grunge nation that ruled the rock roost. With Adam Duritz's poetic sad-sack lyrics, Charlie Gillingham's Garth Hudson-like keyboard work, and a bedrock of jangling guitars, the Crows turned out a passel of fine albums in their first decade, each of which is well represented on this collection.
