I'm Glad About It album
$8.49 All tracks have been digitally mastered using HDCD technology.
...FROM KIRK FRANKLIN'S NU NATION won the 1998 Grammy Award for Best Gospel Album By A Choir Or Chorus. "Stomp" was nominated for 1998 Grammy Awards for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal and Best R&B Song.
Kirk Franklin is on a one-man mission to bring gospel music into the nineties. His own recordings have given the genre a fresh new face, and here he plays shepherd to a soulful group of singers who are bound to bring the Lord's word straight into the twenty-first century. God's Property is a modern gospel choir consisting of dozens of talented vocalists, and under Franklin's tutelage they have marked a bold new direction for gospel.
There's a little bit of everything here, from the hip-hop beat of "Stomp" to the James Brown-style funk groove of "It's Rainin'" and the smooth R&B sound of cuts like "Love" and "Sweet Spirit." Through all of these stylistic contortions, God's Property lays down strong, sweet harmonies and infuses every track with a heartfelt, spiritual message.
Recorded at Dallas Sound Lab and Future Audio, Dallas, Texas.

| | Keith Sweat Make It Last Forever CD (1987)
I'm Glad About It CD music
$10.65 Although only "I Want Her" crossed over to the pop charts, hitting the Top Five, the five singles from Keith Sweat's debut album were prominently featured on R&B radio and dance floors from the winter of 1987 through the fall of 1988. Produced by nascent superstar producer and eventual label head Babyface, MAKE IT LAST FOREVER was arguably the very first "new jack swing" album; that style's characteristic mix of old-school soul-man vocals and hip-hop-influenced arrangements is all over this album.
The most obvious nod ...
| | Maxwell MTV Unplugged CD (1997) (Import) France
I'm Glad About It music CDs
$10.05 "Whenever Whenever Whenever" was nominated for a 1998 Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
For a brief moment in the mid-90s, Maxwell was his generation's Marvin Gaye. This live set, probably his finest moment on wax, features the bonus track "'Til The Cops Come Knockin'," as well as "The Lady Suite," "Gotta Get Closer," and five more.
Riding the wave of young turks delving into old-school soul that includes D'Angelo, Eryka Badu and Adriana Evans, Maxwell's URBAN HANG SUITE heralded the arrival of a balladeer who combined Al Green's seductiveness with Prince's sensuality. MTV UNPLUGGED shows off the live side of this young free spirit whose musical roots reach through the Quiet Storm into some pretty unlikely places. Throughout this EP, the arrangements are lush, the horns caress every groove and Maxwell's creamy falsetto ducks and feints through his own "Whenever Wherever Whatever" and "The Lady Suite." He also takes time to give props to Kate Bush with a crystalline reading of "This Woman's Work." Showing off a knack for the unorthodox, Maxwell closes out the festivities with a completely transformed cover of Nine Inch Nails' "Closer" that moves from a jazz/funk workout to a gospel feel.

| | Kingdom Come DVD (2001) Widescreen; Subtitled
I'm Glad About It songs
$9.69 Whoopi Goldberg stars in KINGDOM COME as matriarch Raynelle Slocumb, whose mean-spirited husband, Ray Bud, unexpectedly falls down dead at the breakfast table in this touching and irreverent comedy based on the play DEARLY DEPARTED by David Dean Bottrell and Jessie Jones. Ray Bud's untimely death forces the dysfunctional Slocumb clan together for a long weekend where family tensions, grievances, and long-suffering silences are aired as they prepare the funeral of their patriarch. An all-star African American cast features L.L. Cool J as Ray Bud Jr., who is put in charge of the funeral despite his struggles to come to terms with unresolved feelings for his father while battling alcoholism and an unhappy marriage with his wife, Lucille (Vivica A. Fox). Bud Jr.'s brother, Junior (Anthony Anderson), is a small-time scheme-spinner who descends on the Slocumb family home in rural Lulu, California with his shrewish wife, Charisse (Jada Pinkett Smith), ...
| | Fred Hammond Speak Those Things: Pol Chapter 3 CD (2002)
I'm Glad About It album
$7.69 Biz insiders call Fred Hammond "the Babyface of gospel," due to his multitude of talents. Skilled as a producer, singer, songwriter, musician, and label boss, Hammond made music news with the groups Commissioned and Radical For Christ, and has made more inroads into the music mainstream then nearly any other contemporary gospel artist. The third chapter of Hammond's PAGES OF LIFE series arrives in sufficiently resplendent fashion to match the expectations of fans.
The breadth of Hammond's musicianship is evident throughout; the undulating "Show Yourself Strong" flirts with Latin rhythms, while "You are My Daily Bread" opens with a highly syncopated, African-sounding beat, and Mary Mary makes a guest appearance, adding some sassy R&B vocals to the hip-hop-inflected "Great." But at the end of the day, it's the impassioned voices of Hammond and his choir delivering heartfelt songs of praise that make up the spiritual center of SPEAK THOSE THINGS.

I'm Glad About It album
$11.99 Contains sample from "Somebody Owns A Piece Of The Rock" (David Porter).
On their debut, Havoc and Prodigy tell the listener in all sorts of overconfident manners that there are few people out there who can mess with Mobb Deep. In fact, they do so in 14 different ways on Juvenile Hell. Mostly produced by Mobb Deep themselves, this album is rawness at an unrelenting pace, with an undeniable, relentless, and often irrational energy. The intro cut sets the mood as a warning, set to a "Queens brand" production. The tempo is kind of fast, but the bassline rolls to easily facilitate a strong head nod. The sampled horn stabs help to remind you that, after all, it's still music. Over this beat Prodigy cautions: "It's called Juvenile Hell; you won't survive long." In the first few songs, Mobb acquaints the listener with the life of a "frustrated and confused young juvenile" living in Queens. Juvenile Hell is hardcore, but not ...
