(3 Customer Reviews)
This is a continuous in-the-mix CD compiled and mixed by DJ Mark Farina.
On top of his game when this mix dropped in 1999, Mark Farina had risen to the rank of superstar DJ -- at least within the States, and particularly on the West Coast and in Chicago -- and represents his newfound status on San Francisco Sessions. The Om-released mix features 14 house tracks, many of them quite funky and some of them a bit jazzy. Overall, San Francisco Sessions accurately represents the Bay Area house sound -- warm, sunny, breezy, open, happy, and carefree. In other words, the tracks feature lots of organic instrumentation rather than programmed sounds, and the tempo never slows to a crawl or heats to a boil. Furthermore, Farina mixes a no doubt impressive set without relying on big records, instead going with relatively obscure tracks in general. ~ Jason Birchmeier

San Francisco Sessions CD music
$10.35 This is a continuous in-the-mix CD compiled and mixed by DJ Kaskade.
There aren't too many surprises on the third Sounds of Om mix album, this one compiled and mixed by Kaskade. However, this isn't necessarily something to complain about, particularly if you enjoyed the previous volume spun by Andy Caldwell. This mix features many of the same producers -- Caldwell, Rithma, Soulstice, West Magnetic, and Afro Mystik -- along with a few tracks each from Naked Music NYC and Johnny Fiasco -- the former an Om regular, the latter a longtime Chicago producer with an Om-style sound. And, if you're familiar with the Caldwell entry into the Sounds of Om series, you'll also recognize Soulstice's "Lovely," a beautiful and memorable song that appears here as well in "Johnny Fiasco's Lovely ...

San Francisco Sessions music CDs
$22.05 Digitally remastered reissue of the Guess Who vocalist's 1976 solo debut with two bonus tracks added, demo versions of 'Blossom' & 'I'm Scared'. 12 tracks total, also including a big band version of his predecessors' smash 'You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet' and the singles 'Stand Tall' & 'I'm Scared'. 1999 release.
Some of those involved with Columbia's Byrds box urged the producers to use tracks by the Jet Set, the Beefeaters, the pre-Byrds David Crosby, and the Hillmen; instead, they chose to weigh it down with a lot of later, Skip Battin-era tracks. So Raven Records has done the job instead, gathering together the major pre-Byrds and early Byrds-related tracks in one place: David Crosby's bluesy "Willie Gene" and "Come Back Baby"; the pre-Byrds Jet Set trio's Beatles-esque "The Only Girl I Adore" (complete with "yeah-yeah"'s) from the Early L.A. album; the Hillmen's bluegrass version of Dylan's "When the Ship Comes In"; and the Byrds/Beefeaters' "It Won't Be Wrong" from Elektra. But the producers haven't stopped with obvious stuff like that. They've also included David Hemmings' rendition of Gene Clark's "Backstreet Mirror" ...

$6.69 Formed in late 2007, the remaining members of the Jenny Death Letter(2006), Rooster Quid, J. Karnage and Dan Flores, regrouped with bassist Sitizen Kane and Derrick Reyes to form the band "One Punch Machine Gun". The name, One Punch Machine Gun (or 1PMG) derives from Guy Ritchie's film "Snatch" and also embodies the description for their fast-paced musical and hard hitting style.Their very first single, "Soulcry", embodies their raw and melodic musicianship.
