Lest anyone think Polvo's previous outing, the relatively cohesive TODAY'S ACTIVE LIFESTYLES, was a sign of streamlining to come, CELEBRATE THE DARK AGE opens with the dizzying "Fractured (Like Chandeliers)," which sounds as if they kept the vocals and rhythm section at full speed but accidentally slowed down the guitars to a wobbly warp in the mixing session. Halfway through this strangely entrancing song, one starts to feel relieved that this is merely a seven-song EP.
