| | Mick Turner Tren Phantasma CD Mick Turner Discography of CDs
Tren Phantasma is bound to appeal to fans of Dirty Three, Mick Turner's main project; the album is a collection of guitar instrumentals composed in the same meditative, subtle style as Dirty Three's work (although slightly more minimal and subdued, as one might expect.) Turner conjures many of the gloriously pretty tones that are characteristic of Dirty Three, and while some of the tracks lag between these moments, Tren Phantasma is a fine release, and a must for fans of Turner's other work. ~ Nitsuh Abebe

$22.99 RUSH IN RIO is a unique 3-CD document that features an entire set recorded at a Rio de Janeiro show in November 2002 that was also the last date on the Vapor Trails international tour. Originally recorded for the Rush concert video/DVD of the same name, this collection is raw around the edges but still manages to capture the live might of this critically underrated progressive rock power trio. Playing South America for the first time, the Canadian threesome waded deep into their canon for this crowd of 40,000 rabid fans. In addition to serving up expected Rush perennials like "Tom Sawyer," "Limelight," and "The Spirit of Radio," Rush doled out a few more obscure nuggets including a medley of "By-Tor and the Snow ...

Tren Phantasma CD music
$18.55 âThereâs no sex and drugs and rock ânâ roll in music anymore. Weâre here to bring it back and weâre proud of it. Weâre not selling out! People are buying in,â grins Bobnoxious singer/guitarist Bob. J. Reid.Raucous, gritty and bombastic, itâs in-yer-face rock ânâ roll that would make Bon Scott raise his glass again. Itâs a description many a band would kill for, yet it doesnât begin to touch the over-the-top spectacle that is this London, Ontario based four-piece rock band. Itâs truly âTwo Fisted, Twisted, Rock And Rollâ!Letâs face it: theyâre called Bobnoxious for a reason. And that is they just donât care what people, the record industry, the establishment â anyone really â think about them. They do what they want to do. Period.Proof-positive lies in the must-see stage show replete with smashed guitars, blow-up dolls, hot air balloon sized backdrops, confetti cannons, beach balls, bobble heads, drum kits made from trash cans, and questions from notable artists as to, âhow are we supposed to follow that?â. And the buzz is only getting bigger with the release of their sophomore CD Rockaholics: The Fun Drinking Game (Wannabe/Fontana North). âItâs a drinking concept album,â laughs Reid. âThere are so many concept albums out there, but only we would think of getting hammered as a concept!âYes, itâs a CD and a game, if youâre game enough to try it! Reid cautions though, âIf you canât drink a beer by the first song, you really shouldnât be playing.âTo play the Rockaholics drinking game, each player brings out a shot glass, five ounces of alcohol (playerâs choice), seven beers, one really loud stereo and some friends. Rockaholics go shot-for-song as they rage away with tracks such as âSomethinâs Going Onâ, the hilarious ballad âBaby, Itâs Not My Faultâ and the sing-along, infectious new single âHere We Go Againâ. Finish a drink per song and earn your very own Rockaholic Diploma. From outselling international stars everyday at music stores in southwestern Ontario, to a Christmas album that sold out everywhere inciting near-riots from fans, and their song âBig Cannonsâ being awarded Number One Party Song by London rock station FM96, Bobnoxious is going against the grain, and succeeding at every turn. The music is real, the band is real, and their Rockaholic fans show their voracious appetite for it all to the discredit of a challenged music industry.âI remember when a certain record company exec told me âBig Cannonsâ would never get on the radio,â smiles Reid. âWell, guess who I sent a copy of my royalty cheque to, when it was awarded #1 Party Song by FM96 with a sincere âF**k Youâ attached?âIndeed. The positive product of Reidâs more negative personal past, Bobnoxious has always maintained an âFâ everything air. It dominated their first release âTwo Fisted ...
