Notable for containing Wonder's then-most recent Top Ten hit, the title track, and its follow-up, "Yester-Me, Yester-You, Yesterday," this album otherwise contains contemporary filler like "Light My Fire," plus a peculiar arrangement of "Hello, Young Lovers" from The King and I that makes it sound like "For Once In My Life." ~ William Ruhlmann Pack a picnic, grab your sweetie, and it's off to a sunny day in the park with MY CHERIE AMOUR. This 1969 Motown staple delivers the young Stevie Wonder wrapped in lush string and horn sections, adding a certain grandiose quality to the music that he seemed to cast off only a few years later. MY CHERIE AMOUR is 12 tracks worth of innocent summertime R&B. Dig the refrain from the title track, as Stevie la-las in unison with the flutes--unlike other aspects of the recording, this is a foreshadowing of things to come in his career. "At Last" is just plain exuberant, driven by a funky bass, free-spirited ascending modulations and an insistent string section that testifies to Stevie's sunny declarations. A funkified rendition of the Doors anthem "Light My Fire" is made dream-like with legato bowing from the strings, punctuated by the unmistakable happy tooting of Stevie's harmonica. | | Stevie Wonder Signed, Sealed And Delivered CD (1970)
My Cherie Amour
$6.79 Stevie Wonder was beginning to rebel against the Motown hit factory mentality in the early '70s. While he certainly hadn't lost his commercial touch, Wonder was anxious to address social concerns, experiment with electronics, and not be restricted by radio and marketplace considerations. Still, he gave the label another definitive smash with the title track, while sneaking in a cover of the Beatles' "We Can Work It Out" and penning more intriguing tunes like "I Can't Let My Heaven Walk Away" and "Never Had a Dream Come True." ~ Ron Wynn As you listen to this album, you will inevitably find yourself lamenting the devastating shortage of hours in a day in which to continue grooving. 1970's SIGNED, SEALED AND DELIVERED marks another turning point for Mr. Wonder as his lyrics grow more world-conscious and the music gets ...
| | Stevie Wonder For Once In My Life CD (1968)
My Cherie Amour
$6.85 Includes liner notes by Allan Rinde. Rather than rushing out an album in the spring of 1968, when "Shoo-Be-Doo-Be-Doo-Da-Day" (Number 9 Pop, Number One R&B) hit, Motown waited, through the modest summer success of "You Met Your Match" (Number 35 Pop, Number Two R&B), until "For Once in My Life" (Number Two Pop and R&B) became Wonder's next mammoth single, to release an album. As a result, this album contained all three hits, making it one of Wonder's more consistent albums of the '60s, even with filler like "Sunny" and "God Bless the Child." The real find, however, is the driving "I Don't Know Why," which, when placed on the B-side of Wonder's next single, "My ...

| | Billy Joe Shaver Everybody's Brother CD (2007)
My Cherie Amour
$13.75 Personnel: Jamie Hartford, Pat McLaughlin, Randy Scruggs (acoustic guitar); Eddy Shaver (electric guitar); Laura Cash (fiddle); Paco Shipp (harmonica); Tony Harrell (accordion); Dave Roe (electric bass); Dave Pomeroy (bass guitar); Freddy Joe Fletcher, Kenny Malone, Rick Lonow (drums); The Whole Gang (percussion); Etta Britt (background vocals). Additional personnel: John Anderson, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Tanya Tucker, Bill Miller (vocals); Marty Stuart (electric guitar). A Billy Joe Shaver album is always cause for celebration, but on this 2007, Grammy-nominated release, the outlaw country troubadour shines in a whole new way. Produced by John Carter Cash, the album features all country-gospel originals, half of them sung in duet with a laundry list of country greats, including the late Johnny Cash, old partner in crime Kris Kristofferson, and Tanya Tucker. Although the Christian-themed lyrics are utterly sincere, fans needn't worry that Shaver has gone soft on them. The music crackles with country-rocking, honky-tonking fire. Billy Joe Shaver ...
| | Monster Booty CD (2001)
My Cherie Amour
$15.65 Sir Mix-A-Lot/R.Kelly/Salt & Pepa/2live Crew/Bell Biv Devoe
Compilation producers: MC Bob Wingo, Dr. Schmoo. Digitally remastered by Elliott Federman (SAJE Sound, New York, New York). Razor & Tie's TV-marketed Monster Booty collects a generous number of party rap tracks that dominated dance clubs and (especially) meat-market pickup bars from coast to coast during the '90s. Not everything here fits neatly into the Miami-centered bass-music sound that's become more commonly known as booty, but the tracks at least fit the spirit (and anatomical obsession) of the collection, which is jam-packed with incessantly catchy, party-hearty dancefloor anthems. A few genre-defining cuts are missing -- the 69 Boyz' "Tootsee Roll," Quad City DJs' "C'Mon N' Ride It (The Train)," DJ Kool's "Let Me Clear My Throat" -- but Monster Booty does feature ...

| | Omarion O CD (2005) (Import)
My Cherie Amour
$34.15 The debut album from former B2K lead singer Omarion who has stepped into the booth with producers including AllStar (3LW, Joe, Luther Vandross), The Underdogs (B2K, Ruben Studdard, Tyrese) and Atlanta's own Corner Boys (Usher). As co-writer on 5 songs, he hopes to show fans ''a deeper insight of what goes on inside my head''. This pressing contains the original 13 tracks, plus a bonus DVD (PAL/Region 0) that includes Interview footage, the MTV Diary of Omarion, plus the videos for 'O' & 'Touch'. *Please note you will need an All Code DVD polayer to view. Epic. 2005.
Omarion's career didn't slow down after the breakup of B2K. In addition to playing Reggie in Fat Albert, he went about recording his debut album with an extended cast of producers. As with most other former boy band members gone solo, Omarion makes an attempt to break from his teen pop past by getting as racy and raunchy as possible -- "I don't mean no disrespect to you, but a n*gga really tryin' to f*ck with you" being one of the least up-front come-ons from "Take It Off." (Note: there is no parental advisory label on the album.) The content runs the spectrum of a relationship, though there's lots of courtship going on, carried by the expected assortment of ballads, mid-tempo grooves, and club tracks. Omarion is most effective when sticking to lighthearted, summery funk -- like the Kool & the Gang-tinged "Never Gonna Let You Go (She's a Keepa)" (featuring an out-of-place drop-by from OutKast's Big Boi), and when he gets heavyweight assistance from the Neptunes ("Touch") and Rodney Jerkins ("Drop That Heater"). Had Omarion been less concerned with street credibility, realizing that it might be better to allow his young fan base to mature along with him, this debut would've been more than satisfactory. ~ Andy Kellman After gaining fame as a member of teen-pop sensations B2K, Omarion seeks rebirth on O, his debut solo record. Omarion acknowledges his past on "Growing Pains," where the young singer bares his soul in a sort of apology for the demise of his group and for any lingering bitterness ...
