Pronounced Jah-Nay album for sale Product Description

Pronounced Jah-Nay album for sale by Zhane was released Feb 08, 1994 on the Motown (Record Label) label. Co-produced by rap heavyweights Naughty by Nature, who are skilled in treading the line between street and mainstream acceptance, PRONOUNCED JAH-NAY packs a rhythmic punch, but soulful strings and airy keyboard chops create a more sophisticated ambience that fits Zhane's honey-glazed vocals like a velvet glove. On the whole, the song-writing is fairly standard, alternating between emotion-laden quiet storm paens ("Off My Mind," "For A Reason") and more uptempo exhortations to dance ("Groove Thang" and a nice remix of "Hey Mr.D. J." ), but Zhane is clearly good at what they do. Pronounced Jah-Nay CD music contains a single disc with 13 songs.   ...See Full Description

Wrong one!
I ordered the wrong CD. I wanted the one with Crush on it. I didn't look at the CD listings before I ordered it and obviously it was to late to order the right one.

I remember listening to this Cd in high school. I learned to harmonise singing Hey Mr. DJ with my cousin. Hands Down Jean & Renee has a potent brand of musical stylings and this is manifested in their tight 2 way harmony a dying treasure.2 thumbs up. .

Pronounced Jah-Nay CD music (saxophone, keyboards, vocals); Abdul Raoof (trumpet, flugelhorn, percussion); Jason "T.C." Bryant (keyboards, vocals); John Alexander Simpson (bass, vocals); James Earl Jones III (drums, vocals); Jerome "JT" All songs written by James Harris III and Terry Lewis except "Take Your Time (Do It Right)" (Harold Clayton/Sigidi) and "What's Wrong With Our Love Affair?" (Jason Bryant). Like all greatest-hits or best-of compilations, this one is missing some key ingredients, namely "S.O.S. (Dit Dit Dit Dat Dat Dat Dit Dit Dit)" and "Just the Way You Like It." Since the band didn't record tons of material and was only active a short time, the omissions are hard to fathom. It's not like they didn't have room on the CD; only ten songs are compiled here. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are well represented with eight songs. Despite the omissions, this is still good listening. Mary Davis' vocals are irresistible; she can do it all. On "Take Your Time (Do It Right)," she shows her funk side, matching the driving, disco-like beat with some powerful vocals. On "Tell Me if You Still Care," she sings in a softer voice, similar to a Smokey Robinson production for Mary Wells. She sings "Just Be Good to Me" with so much conviction that you believe she wrote it. ~ Andrew Hamilton 1. Take Your Time (Do It Right) 2. Finest 3. Even When You Sleep 4. Weekend Girl 5. Pronounced Jah-Nay songs MAXWELL'S URBAN HANG SUITE was nominated for a 1997 Grammy Award for Best R&B Album. Welcome to Maxwell's, where the groove always flows and love fuels all. Eschewing the slicker tendencies of contemporary R&B, Maxwell joins young turks D'Angelo and Tony Rich in looking back to the aesthetics of '70s soul for inspiration. Opening and closing with instrumentals ("The Urban Theme" and "The Suite Theme"), URBAN HANG SUITE is knee-deep in wah-wah guitar, funky Rhodes piano and lush, atmospheric sounds that evoke silk sheets and champagne. Although Al Green and Marvin Gaye are obvious touchstones, Maxwell avoids vocal theft, instead appropriating the way those singers inextricably meld their music and their sensuality. The breathy quiet-storm sax that closes out "Welcome" is as much a part of the sexual vibe as the sinewy funk and propulsive rhythm of "Ascension (Don't Ever Wonder)." Oozing with sensuality, URBAN SUITE is a soundtrack for an evening of romance. Recorded at Electric Lady, RPM, Sorcerer and Chung King, New York, New York; CRC, Chicago, Illinois. Personnel: Maxwell (vocals); Stuart Matthewman (guitar, saxophone, bass); MUSZE (guitar, keyboards, drums, programming); Wah Wah Watson, H (guitar); Eric Friedlander, Rufus Cappadocia (cello); Kevin Batchelor (trumpet); Vincent Chauncey (French horn); Clark Gayton (trombone); David Gamson (keyboards, programming); Amp Fidler, Federico Pena, Itaal (keyboards); Mike Neal, Gary Foote, Jonathan Maron (bass); Gene Lake, P.M. Pronounced Jah-Nay album for sale Recorded between 1976 and 1987. Includes liner notes by David Nathan. Originally, One Way came out as Al Hudson & the Soul Partners and recorded a few interesting, but unsuccessful albums for ABC Records. They were then, and are now, a self-contained act, though the original name suggests a standup vocal group. Essentially, Midwest wonders, they never crossed over, and never got as big as predicted on the R&B circuit, despite having a devastating live act. They should have added their bassist/falsetto tenor, Kevin McCord to the title; he contributes as much as Hudson & Myers, if not more. This best of compilation ignores their Al Hudson & the Soul Partner days, and is top heavy with upbeat jams. Like an even handed boxer, One Way could deliver a lethal blow with either hand, being equally as proficient on fast tunes or ballads. The slow jams take a back seat to upbeat cookers, but MCA did include "Something In the Past," and the love happy "Lady You Are" One Way's jams had the juice of a live electrical wire: "Mr. Groove," "You Can Do It," "Pop It," and "Pull Fancy Dancer Pull" represents disco at its best. ~ Andrew Hamilton Audio Remixers: Taavi Mote; Louis Silas, Jr. Liner Note Author: David Nathan. Arranger: Kevin McCord.

Pronounced Jah-Nay CD music Meet the nu-soul--same as the old soul? Well, Dwele's debut certainly contains similarities to old-school artists such as Donny Hathaway and of course Stevie Wonder--all the evidence you need to connect the dots is here in the shimmering Fender Rhodes piano that predominates on SUBJECT. But Dwele is made of more contemporary stuff. He's a rapper who's found his singing voice, though the only time his hip-hop roots really show is in the tumbling lyrics to the coming-of-age song "Twuneanunda" and the title track. Mostly he's a smoothly sophisticated singer with a canny sense of what works in an arrangement, and while he obviously has deep ties to what is now ancient R&B history, his sound is undeniably modern, and irresistibly seductive. Most of the cuts on SUBJECT are down-tempo, though the incidence of satin sheet-oriented boudoir ballads is kept to a surprising minimum. He's a more thoughtful lyricist than that, as evidenced by the nuanced, humorous "Lady at Mahogany," about a tryst gone awry, in which he shows he's not averse to telling tales on himself. SUBJECT is both light enough in feel and accomplished enough in execution to leave you hungry for more. Personnel: Dwele (guitar, background vocals); Kai Brooks, Alfonzo Hunter (vocals); DeSabata Robinson, Dave Forman (guitar); Jake & the Phatman (drums, percussion, turntables); Karriem Riggins (drums); Eric Roberson (background vocals).
