(7 Customer Reviews)
Another in a series of superb wandering groove albums from the premier sweet soul singer. He took the standard three-minute pop soul song and expanded the format. It is Gaye that is responsible for today's smooching urban R&B; he was for much of his career many years ahead of the game. This has been described as his "oral sex" album, not that the others were not; this has the erotic edge. Built around the title track, the album is a theme album and as such should be played as a whole. There are no "Too Busy Thinking Bout My Baby's" on this; it is a much more challenging but satisfying work.

Marvin's perfect vocal performance and futuristic production, still blow me away. There is no record with this type of backround vocal work- stellar!
I was 17 when this album debuted. I think it kinda messed me up. I always wanted to be that romantic. Both versions of 'After The Dance' and the unparalleled 'Come Live With Me, Angel' have no rivals. After all of these years, this one's 'Still The One!' Submitted by St.Davey (Windham, Me.) If you like this cd read this !!!! Leon Ware wrote this album for himself, but Marvin Gaye liked it so much that he convinced Leon Ware to let him sing the songs. The same year Leon Ware released his own album featuring Marvin Gaye : "Musical Massage" 1976.
If you like "I want you", you must check "Musical Massage" by Leon Ware [available on this website]. Try also the cd "Love's drippin" from Leon Ware 2003, and tell me if i'm wrong !!!! Submitted by ndpereira (Dallas Tx and Bordeaux France) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Simply Beautiful! Not only has this album become my favorite Marvin Gaye album in his portfolio, it has become my favorite album of all time. Every song seems to bring added delight to my sense of hearing. His voice is simply divine, no matter what pitch he sings in. In fact, above my fireplace hangs a painting of the " I WANT YOU" album cover. If you don't have this album, I want you to get it. Way Ahead Of Its' Time I play this album every single day..in complete amazement of this artistly created LP. 11 tracks at 38 minutes and 05 seconds. No track is skipped. Every track is a tantalizing display of sheer artistry from a man who produced, wrote, composed and sang his heart in soul into completeness on this album. I was 10 when this album was created and I encourage anyone to get this LP if you have an interest in good music with heavenly vocals. I must have and a true classic. Thank You Marvin. I miss you. This stunning album is Shirley Horn's loving tribute to her friend and colleague, the legendary late Miles Davis. Davis was so taken by Horn's first album EMBERS AND ASHES that he forced The Village Vanguard to let her virtually-unknown trio open for him during his 1961 run there. Their friendship and admiration for each other's music lasted through the years, and Shirley Horn's 1991 recording YOU WON'T FORGET ME, was one of the last recordings Miles Davis made.
Horn selected mostly ballads from Davis' Columbia Records catalogue for her tribute because, as she explains in the liner notes, Davis liked her to sing ballads, and ballads are Horn's specialty. She can slow down time in a unique and ...
| | Marvin Gaye Let's Get It On CD (1973) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
I Want You
$6.79 This 2-CD deluxe edition of LET'S GET IT ON features various session recordings leading up to or associated with the landmark 1973 release, which is also included in its original form.
Principally recorded between 1970 and 1973. LET'S GET IT ON originally released on Tamla (329). Includes liner notes by Ed Townsend, David Ritz, Ben Edmonds and Harry Weinger.
Relishing the artistic freedom afforded by the success of WHAT'S GOING ON, Marvin Gaye recorded this sultry paean to sex. Where its predecessor relied on complex arrangements, the straightforward sound of LET'S GET IT ON focused attention on its tight rhythms, strong melodies, and Gaye's expressive, nuanced singing. For sheer sensual come-on, it's hard to beat the title track, one of the finest celebrations of the joys of human chemistry ever recorded. But the self-explanatory "Come Get to This" and "You Sure Love to Ball" aren't far behind in terms of passionate execution and visceral impact.

| | Marvin Gaye What's Going On CD (1971) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
I Want You
$6.79 This deluxe edition of WHAT'S GOING ON includes a 20-page booklet with
complete lyrics, never-before-published photos from personal family collections and an essay by David Ritz.
Recorded live at The Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C. on May 1, 1972.
Originally released in 1971, WHAT'S GOING ON remains a landmark album, one that redefined music with powerful, anthemic songs that remain pertinent to this day. Before WHAT'S GOING ON, R&B albums were collections of singles, with secondary "filler" material rounding out the LPs. Marvin Gaye changed all this by releasing a concept album that went beyond the usual boy-meets-girl scenario, weaving together an aural collage of societal ills. "Cr

| | Everlast Eat At Whitey's CD (2000)
I Want You
$14.25 For the follow-up to his breakthrough solo album WHITEY FORD SINGS THE BLUES, the former House Of Pain member continues solidifying the bridge between the worlds of rock and rap. This time out, Everlast revisits his hip-hop roots with a vengeance by loading up this 13-track opus up with plenty of jeep-worthy beats and matter-of-fact, lyrical flow. Setting the pace early on is the minute-and-a-half opening track "Whitey," which finds the gruff-sounding Irishman reasserting his lyrical prowess over a zig-zagging cello.
Menacing strings make an appearance on dark inner city tales like "Deadly Assassins" (featuring Cypress Hill's B-Real) and "Graves to Dig," a slow-rolling eulogy to all those cut down by gunfire in their prime. Everlast is at his best spewing out narratives, as on the ultra-funky "Children's Story," a duet with The Roots' Rahzel which tells of the tragic meeting between a strapped teen and an undercover cop. Not everything in this sumptuous banquet of beats is so grim, however; the tattooed rapper shows his soft side by featuring former Brand New Heavies vocalist N'Dea Davenport ...
