(4 Customer Reviews)
With their close-cropped hair, matching outfits and two-man horn section, the Supertones might seem contrived for the sake of joining in on the California punk-ska trend. Closer inspection of CHASE THE SUN, however, reveals that they have a real feeling for the style. The raging punk power chords, horn stabs, herky-jerky rhythms and propulsive organ stabs might be de rigeur for the genre, but the songs are all delivered with feeling and a winning geniality, no matter the intensity of the performance. While they won't make anyone forget the Skatalites, the Supertones at least show enough sense of history to recall the Specials rather than Rancid.

Awesome diversity and talent This is a great CD. The Supertones rock as well as adding a few twists in their musical repertoire. They offer some reggae, acoustic, and hip-hop along with their usual ska rock. Their lyrics share a positive message which are at the same time fun and meaningful. I highly recommend this for your collection. Submitted by dayhoff (Myerstown, PA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

And the Supertones know what they're doing. This is a tight, well-produced disc, with plentiful amounts of revved-up ska tunes. "Unconditional Love" is a perfect example, as the guitar chunks away with that ...
