This '80s album finds Tiny Tim recording in Nashville. With the help of session players and backup singers, Tiny Tim winds his way through his main love: American popular songs from the pre-WWII era. Many of the selections have become so well known as to be instant sing-alongs for people of a certain age. Mr. Tim embraces these songs fully, free of irony, for the sturdy and memorable songs they are. The backing is unobtrusive, letting the spotlight stay squarely on the star (though the band seems to enjoy its percussive punctuation in "Baby Face"). The version of "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" included here is a remake of Tiny Tim's big hit from the late '60s, the single that secured him a place in the history of pop culture.
Tiny Tim went to Nashville and cut this collection in the 1980's that included "Country Queen". At the same time, he plundered his incredible treasure trove of forgotten songs from pop music's pre-history and with the Nashville cats in tow, he recorded "It's A Long Way To Tipperary", "Prisoner Of Love", "Sweet Rosie O'Grady", Bill Bailey" and of course "Tiptoe Through The Tulips".
Recording information: Swanee Recording Studio, Mount Juliet, TN.
Personnel: Tiny Tim (vocals, ukulele); Cindy Smith, Karen Jeglum Kennedy (background vocals).
Liner Note Author: Colin Escott.

| Tiptoe Through The Tulips/Resurrection Music Review Average Rating: (3 out of 5 stars) The Popular Ballad Many remember Tiny Tim for his famous falsetto rendition of Tip Toe through the Tulips. But the focus of his music was the popular songs of a period from 1910 through 1940. These songs like Baby Face, and Happy Days spoke of another side of our culture that was both original and basically middle class. These songs usually had a simple message, a straight forward melody, and reflect some of the main stream of American popular culture before the media burst on the scene and changed everything. Therefore, Tiny Tim preserved, in a gentle and touchy way, a vital part of our Culture, and for that, he is worth listening to, at least for sentimental reasons if not something else. Tiptoe Through The Tulips/Resurrection songs
$14.29 Saturn Rings by Michele O'Malley, issued on ABC in 1969, is truly one of the lost psychedelic pop masterpieces. O'Malley was a member of the Ballroom, and was a session vocalist in Los Angeles, singing backup on Tommy Roe's It's Now Winters Day and Sagittarius' Present Tense. West Coast popster and legendary crazy man Curt Boettcher (leader of the Ballroom) was heavily involved, with arrangements by Michael Melvoin and session players including Lowell George (pre-Little Feat), Bobby Notkoff (pre-Rockets), Elliot Ingber, Gordon Alexander, and Bobby Jameson (aka songwriter Chris Lucey). Boettcher either wrote ...

| | Amy Hotaling Miracle Of Love CD (2006)
Tiptoe Through The Tulips/Resurrection CD music
$9.85 My earliest memory of singing began during my family's weekend trips to visit my grandparent's in Upstate New York. It was a long drive, so to pass the time my siblings and I would take turns choosing songs to sing. Being one of seven children provided plenty of different types of song selection from 'Old McDonald' a particular favorite of my Baby sisters, to the latest Beatle hits. But when it came time for my father to choose, we were all quiet and anxious to hear his deep baritone voice sing 'Old Man River' or one of his favorite folk songs. My father pleaded for all of us to join in, and although we sometimes did, we often times sat quietly and listened to his deep voice fill the car with rich brilliant musical tones. My father inspired me to sing from my heart and my childhood memories of his voice often come to mind as I am singing. Amy began singing onstage at the age of ten. She has enjoyed performing in musicals such as: Once upon a Mattress, Plain and Fancy, Fiddler on the Roof, You're a good man Charlie Brown, Pajama Game, Carnival as well as cabaret and choral performances. Amy is a graduate of Utica College of Syracuse University, Utica, New York. She is also a graduate of University College of Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York. ...
