I've always loved this type of music ever since watching old westerns on television back in the 1950s. Once in a great while there would be a scene at say, the chuck wagon with a Sons of the Pioneers type of group singing a song. This was intended for radio play only during the 1930s. So the sound quality is not up to modern standards. It sounds at least as good as you would have heard coming out of a 1930s AM radio. This contains many songs I haven't heard in years such as Whispering Hope and Listen to the Mocking Bird. Incidentally, on the first set Part 1, my all time favorite is Threw it out the Window. Its a children's song I remember from way back. Its the funniest thing to hear grown men singing it. They put their SOP stamp on it and other songs by playing in their style. Its interesting, almost incongruous, to hear Roy's voice singing rough lyrics on "T For Texas" and its neat how he changes Jimmie Rodgers yodel. There is more yodeling here than Part 1 but they still don't overuse yodeling. The group is "loose" enough that the recordings seem like you could be right there while there doing them. All in all a fun set to listen to. Dan
