Let's call a spade a spade. Orion is an Elvis impersonator. No more, no less. That he's a good Elvis impersonator is important, since if he wasn't, Sun probably wouldn't have tried to promote his recordings as if they were genuine Elvis material, even going to the extremes of overdubbing Orion's voices on recordings by such Sun stalwarts as Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. This doesn't make him any better, but it sure makes him fascinating, particularly because he is gifted at mimicry and these are pretty good evocations of Elvis at his peak. Bear Family's four-disc box Who Was That Masked Man? contains all of his '70s masterworks, including original recordings and fake duets, and it's a singularly fascinating listen. Really, it's pretty good music, but for God's sake, the blatant charlatanism behind this can grate even those with an inclination for kitsch. Taken on surface value, it's enjoyable, but dig a little deeper and it becomes a little silly and a little creepy and completely fascinating. That's not necessarily justification for a four-disc set, but if you're inclined to purchase this on the basis of what Orion is, you won't be disappointed, no matter how uneven the music is. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

I have been a fan off Orion for the last 4 years now. What a shame his was so brutally killed back in 1999. This CD-Box is really something special. His voice is so nice and so very close to Elvis Presleys. He must have a hard time making his own career with a voice so much like the Kings. I have been a fan of Elvis for many years but I must admit that Orion if possible is even better. I can highly recommend this CD-Box. Try it and enjoy a great performer.

Long live the King & Orion (Jimmy Ellis)
I want to purchase this CD Boxed Set. Way back about 1984 I, as a Teenager bought the CD 'Jerry Lee Lewis & Friends' I thought it was Elvis but I was a young fella back then. My God Orion sounds like the mature Elvis and does a wonderful job. I am sure that you won't have any Suspicious Minds but when you hear this guy you'll be All Shook Up as much I was. Time now for a Little Less Conversation and settle down and listen to this guy sing as beautiful as Elvis ever did. He was shot dead by an armed robber at his Pawn shop in Orville, Alabama and that makes me really sad. But just like Elvis we still have his voice to remind us of good times, lost love and all those other human frailties we all suffer from time to time...See ya

Hi Music fans,
I have been a fan of ORION's since 1979 but I'm a vinyl collector not CD ! I didn't care much for the book that came with it lots of misinfomation but then it's the music that counts and boy does it count.1st Cd ELVIS & Gospel,2nd CD Rock & Pop,
3rd Country and last but not least Duets.Each CD
has 20 or more cuts.Lots of unreleased and songs that are on CD for the 1st time.YES ORION sounds like ELVIS but thats were it ends he is a true artist in his own right just sorry he was killed
