No Exit songs Product Information
No Exit album for sale by Fates Warning was released Apr 26, 1994 on the Metal Blade label. Usually regarded as the finest release from Fates Warning's early years, when their progressive leanings were tempered with no small amount of classic metal riffing, No Exit is a typically difficult album to come to grips with. As was often the case on prior releases, the band has a hard time reconciling its ruthless experimentation with the need to construct coherent songs, leading to any number of awkward passages in which melodies and riffs are recklessly spliced together. No Exit CD music contains a single disc with 6 songs. ...See Full Description

This is the first album with Ray Alder on vocals. So I see this release as an adjustment album. The rest of the band is "adjusting" to Ray's style of singing AND he is trying to adapt Fates Warning's style of music. There are some really good songs on this CD. Unless you like BOTH older and newer Fates Warning's style you may want to concider buying this.

||The best Fates CD of all|
I love this one. If your into prog metal this can't be beat. The recording is not the best but what comes through is the quintesential prog metal album ever. Beautiful musicianship, a master piece!

This is a bit of a transition album for Fates Warning, as they 1) have a new singer (who is better than John Arch) and 2) are getting more progressive (if you ask me, ATG was their first prog-metal effort). As such, there's a bit of an experimental feel here, but the band sounds very confident. The first 1/2 of the album is excellent, a little less progressive than the second. Then the second half (i.e., the last song) pulls out all the stops in a 20+ minute progressive opus that will make jaws hit the floor in wonder. Also, the production on this album is better than ATG, and the lyrics are great. Excellent album for any fan of prog-metal or traditional metal.
