| | Six Feet Under Alive And Dead CD Six Feet Under Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
The Alive and Dead EP compiles a handful of live songs culled from Six Feet Under's debut album, Haunted, and features three new studio tracks, including a cover of Judas Priest's "Grinder." While it's quite interesting to hear how Chris Barnes' colossal voice carries in a live setting, there isn't anything too special about this album -- it's a standard issue stopgap release, albeit one by an exceptional group. However, that in itself makes Alive and Dead worth seeking out, especially for fervent fans looking for some live recordings. ~ Jason Birchmeier Alive And Dead Music Review Purchase Alive And Dead CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Six Feet Under Haunted CD (1995)

| | Six Feet Under Warpath CD (1997)
Alive And Dead CD music
$9.69 For Six Feet Under's second and final album with Allen West on guitar, the group fulfilled its potential, merging Chris Barnes' Godzilla-like growl with West's lumbering, snail-paced riffs. Though Cannibal Corpse fans may still long for a more uptempo set of guitar riffs, West's work really defines this album, making it an interesting variation of his other band, Obituary. Of course, ...

This limited edition version of MAXIMUM VIOLENCE includes a bonus live disc.
With the presence of former Cannibal Corpse frontman Chris Barnes, it was a pretty safe bet that Six Feet Under would epitomize death metal at its most cartoonish, and that proved to be true. Maximum Violence, the group's third full-length album, isn't vastly different from its predecessors -- basically simple riffs alternate between slow and fast tempos, with ridiculously over-the-top vocals spewing tales of death, dismemberment, and other variations ...
| | Six Feet Under Graveyard Classics CDs (2000)
Alive And Dead songs
$10.69 A year after Six Feet Under debuted their new guitarist, Steve Swanson, on Maximum Violence, the Chris Barnes-fronted band recorded an all-covers album, Graveyard Classics. Most of the featured songs are generally well known ("TNT," "Smoke on the Water," "Purple Haze," "In League with Satan"), which is a little disappointing, since some of these songs have been covered a million times before. However, that seems to be the idea -- reconfigure ...

| | Pat Longo Here's That Swing Thing CD (1994)
Alive And Dead music CDs
$12.95 This session has the best of all worlds going for it, charts put together by some of the most outstanding arrangers in the business played by a well-rehearsed, disciplined big band. Disciplined, but not so as to sound uptight. There's enough looseness to put the playing of this group into the creative tension category. Some of the chart-makers whose work leader and alto sax player Pat Longo has selected for the play list include Billy May, Gordon Brisker, Sammy Nestico, and Bill Byers, all in-demand creative arrangers. There is a revolving set of top-flight players available for duty. That's good, but what's not so good is that the soloists are not identified for each of the tracks. It's a shame not to be credited for outstanding work such as the guitar on "Longo's Boogie" or the vibes that back Frank Sinatra, Jr. on "Midnight Sun." Sinatra appears on five cuts swinging on such tunes as a Billy May arrangement of "Great Times." There are many versions of "Sweet Georgia Brown," but a more cleverly arranged one than Sammy Nestico's will be hard to come by. Even though some of these tracks have been taken from earlier releases, especially Billy May for President issued ...

| | Chris Poland Return To Metalopolis 2002 CD (1990) (Import) Sweden
Alive And Dead CD music
$14.59 Guitarist Chris Poland was an original member of Megadeth, and helped to make them one of the most exciting guitar bands of the early thrash metal scene. After being fired from the band for drug use (ironically, the equally strung-out Dave Mustaine did the firing), Poland went underground for a while, cleaning up and doing a low-profile tour with the Circle Jerks as the band's bassist(!). Return to Metalopolis finds the highly underrated guitarist returning to form on a lean, muscular instrumental album. The opener, "Club Ded" (the title a clever nod to his former band), immediately makes it apparent just how integral Poland's voice was to the early Megadeth sound; his tone is truly unique, and his flair for chord voicings lift him above most of his power-chord riffing brethren. His soloing style is fluid, tasteful, technically exciting, and totally recognizable. Poland, an intelligent player, obviously draws inspiration from Jeff Beck and other guitarists who predate the '80s heavy metal scene, and values tone and taste as much as volume. Poland's brother Mark provides crisp, inspired drumming which locks in perfectly with Chris' airtight rhythms. This album is obviously a labor of love for Chris Poland, who is glowing ...
