For Six Feet Under's second and final album with Allen West on guitar, the group fulfilled its potential, merging Chris Barnes' Godzilla-like growl with West's lumbering, snail-paced riffs. Though Cannibal Corpse fans may still long for a more uptempo set of guitar riffs, West's work really defines this album, making it an interesting variation of his other band, Obituary. Of course, the simplicity of the riffs and their slow pace may just as well inspire criticism as it does celebration, given the fact that most death metal bands pride themselves on velocity. As expected, Barnes puts in a dominating performance here, making this arguably the group's best 1990s album, depending on whether you prefer West's guitar playing or that of his successor, ex-Massacre guitarist Steve Swanson, as featured on the band's other celebrated 1990s album, Maximum Violence. ~ Jason Birchmeier

I have only been a SFU fan for a few months. I have been listing to Death metal since 1987 and have never heard anything quite like SFU. They are in my opinion one of the best bands out there period and this album is pretty good while not thier best it still rocks!!

your gonna want to cut out your eyes and rip out your tongue, but don't puncture your ears or you couldn't listen to SFU anymore. This is great music! Nonexistence is the best song, but Revenge of the Zombie is close. Rock On!

If you are an old thrasher like me this is a good album to start when listening to death metal. While the sheer brutal riffs are heard on SFU's next release ("Maximum Violence") the vocals and lyris are still in tune with the genre. If you liked 'Wolverine Blues' you WILL like this album!

An Excellent Example of Great Metal!!!
WARPATH is a superbly done album. This album remains to be probably their grooviest and most melodic, but no less heavy, disc to date. The singer actually is articulating his lyrics more on this cd than any other release, which makes his messages of political and social ills come across deeper than ever. This would be the last cd to feature Allen West as the guitarist, and he does deliver quite the riffs on this cd. I think this is my favorite of all their releases because the songs "War Is Coming", "4:20", "Caged and Disgraced", and "Nonexistence" are some of the best songs in their catalog. WARPATH is one of those albums which you have to learn to appreciate over repeated listens. And the drummer and bassist provide a tight rhythm section, which makes the music great. Overall, WARPATH is a fantastic metal record, and good evidence at the direction of this genre. Buy this one, you won't regret it at all.

the best SFU song as far as I am concerned is "Nonexistance" on this album..this is a great album.. if you have heard the others.. this is a bit slower and groovier than the otherts.. but no less a treat..

Words cannot do this album enough justice. This is a truly glorious metal release, certainly Death's finest hour, and easily one of the top metal albums of all time. The sheer ferocity and emotion that channels through each of the intricate, progressive guitar melodies shatters every low opinion of the American metal scene.
