| | Amon Amarth Once Sent From The Golden Hall CD Amon Amarth Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Commemorating its 10th anniversary in release, Metal Blade Records offers a special two-disc edition of Amon Amarth's debut album, 1998's ONCE SENT FROM THE GOLDEN HALL, one of the crowning achievements in brutal Viking metal. Extraordinarily melodic, with an ample supply of infectious riffs, the band quickly became renowned in the metal community. The album also received notoriety for being engineered by Hypocrisy front man Peter Tägtgren, and the band's drummer at the time was Martin Lopez (Opeth). This special edition contains new artwork and the previously unreleased track "Siegreicher Marsch," a German-language version of the song "Victory March." Also included is a bonus disc featuring a live recording from 2008 of the album in its entirety.

Once Sent From The Golden Hall CD music
$9.69 After nearly a decade of recording and a few lineup overhauls, each contributor to Amon Amarth's previous effort, Avenger, stuck around for The Crusher. Original members Johan Hegg (vocals) and Olavi Mikkonen (guitars) are again joined by Fredrik Andersson on drums, Johan Söderberg on guitar, and bassist Ted Lundström. There is nothing new on this outing to surprise fans of this band's familiar Scandinavian death metal. The riffing from guitar and drums is workmanlike, and Hegg's vocal rants carry all the requisite ferocity. During slower, more musically focused numbers like "As Long as the Raven Flies" ...

Once Sent From The Golden Hall music CDs
$9.79 Initial pressings of VERSUS THE WORLD will include a bonus disc.
With Versus the World, Amon Amarth return with another terrain flattening, Viking-obsessed death metal platter. Vocalist Johan Hegg alternates between a whispery low rumble and an upper-register shriek, both of which are surprisingly able to render the lyrics quite intelligible ...
| | Amon Amarth Fate Of Norns CD (2004)
Once Sent From The Golden Hall songs
$9.79 Amon Amarth's fifth full-length isn't so different than its 2002 predecessor, The Crusher. Musically, Fate of Norns is Spartan death metal built on epic, anthemic melodies, a perfect example of the Iron Maiden/death metal fusion tagged the "New Wave of Swedish Heavy Metal." And lyrically it's still full of Viking imagery, as songs like "Valkyries Ride" and "The Pursuit of Vikings" attest. It's the same theme that these guys have been hammering at since their 1996 debut mini-album, Sorrow Throughout the Nine Worlds. It's also a theme that literally hundreds of other Scandinavian bands have hammered at too, most of them leaving it a hackneyed corpse ready for the pyre. Which is where Amon Amarth have set themselves apart. These aren't just songs written about Vikings, they are written by Vikings. They're ready for ...

| | Leo Ferre Avec Le Temps CD (1990)
Once Sent From The Golden Hall songs
$16.29 It's very difficult to put together a mere two-CD compilation of a man whose work spans over 60 years. French writer and singer Léo Ferré has released literally thousands of songs in his career, and this compilation offers a view of just a small but integral part of it. Ferré, who is the real art singer of the 20th century, whom Jacques Brel, Charles Trenier, Scott Walker, and many others emulated but never really paid their debt to, is an artist so far out on the fringe of what the term means that only the term "French artiste" can apply to him. He is the Picasso of music. Here, tracks from the years 1960-1973 are collected, a period when he was between the ages of 40 and 53, and at his creative peak. Here are essential poetic masterpieces in songs like "Les Anarchistes," "La Mémoire et la Mer," "La Solitude," "L'Espoir," "Poète, Vos Papiers!," "La Vie d'Artiste," "Paname," "L'Oppression," the title track, and "Les Romantiques," along with many others. Through all the different musical styles and formats Ferré recorded in, his dignity and unapologetic romanticism shine through. He embodies the Francophile sense of drama, tenderness, and revolutionary fervor in each utterance. It's true that he was popular only in his native country and in French-speaking parts of Europe, but who cares? He's still a legend with more songs to his credit than virtually anyone else in the history of France's recording industry. His career has lasted longer than Charles Aznavour's and Charles Trenier's ...

| | Amber Brooke Shades Of Amber CD (2002)
Once Sent From The Golden Hall CD music
$9.59 New and upcoming artist. As a performer, Amber Brooke already has an impressive resume that includes appearances in movies, television, voice-overs and theatre. Now she has set her sights on the music business. One of her first songs, "Michelle's Song" shows the true depth of Amber's talent. After the death of her best friend's father, Amber takes an introspective look at the emotional turmoil people go through with the death of a close loved one, and explores the questions one must answer to begin the healing process. The background vocals are all friends of Michelle and she voices the closing line. The song won the MakeAStar contest and is currently on their first compilation CD. Impressive considering Amber is only 15! Wanting to get the attention of record labels, Amber decided she wanted a young band close to ...
