Recorded at the rustic and intimate Deertrees Theatre in Harrison ME one hot summer's eve, the disc showcases 15 of Anni's most requested songs, including "I'm from Maine" (never recorded before) plus the new "Between the Rungs", a song penned only days before the August 2004 concert. With thousands of gigs and miles, and six solo albums under her belt, this Maine native's passion for communication through music continues to build a widespread and loyal audience. Her infectious style might be described as "original folk, pop, & blues with a dash of Maine hume-ah". In 2003, Anni won BOTH "Female Artist of the Year" and "Folk Artist of the Year" in Jam Music Magazine's Readers' Pix Awards! With glowing reviews and steady airplay to support her, she toured nonstop with the release of her CD, Big Water. Baltimore's Dirty Linen Magazine wrote that "Anni Clark takes major steps with her fifth solo album... she leads the way to a metaphorical exploration of the natural world. 'Forever Free' is one of the strongest songs written about the events of 9/11." A two-time finalist in the well-known New Folk Songwriters' Competition at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas, Anni was invited to be one of three judges in this event in 2001. Other renowned festival appearances include The Boston Folk Festival, The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in Hillsdale NY, and the Kerrville TX Wine and Music Festival. In Y2K, Anni wrote and performed all the music for Virginia Plummer's independently released short film "Checking Out", which was featured in the NY International Film Festival. She has shared stages from Maine to Texas with the likes of Shawn Colvin, Richie Havens, Patty Larkin, Leo Kottke, and Cheryl Wheeler. Anni Clark's name has also gained recognition for her collaborations with other well-known songwriters. On her frequent tours of Texas, she has joined forces with Shake Russell (Austin) & Dana Cooper (Nashville). These concerts feature solo, duo, & trio renditions of the three artists' tunes. Anni also teamed up with Maine songwriters Dan Merrill & Lynn Deeves, forming the trio known as "under the song tree". Their strength and diversity as a trio is evident with the June 2001 CD release of "under the song tree LIVE". They were voted into the top of the list of favorites at the "New Artist Showcase" at The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, and were voted "Folk Artist of the Year" at Jam Music Magazine in 2002! Recently, Anni has collaborated with other Maine Artists to produce showcases called "Maine Meets Nashville" (at The Bluebird Café) and "Maine Meets Boston" (Johnny D's, Somerville MA).
