Wade in the Water, Vol. 2: African American Congregational Singing -- 19th Century Roots offers a glimpse into the long history of black congregational vocals and worshiping practices, a tradition dating back centuries that once accounted for much of the oral transmission passed from generation to generation. Fascinatingly, the songs are never rehearsed; singers learn while they perform, and while organized gospel choirs have since become more widely recognized, the congregational style still thrives. Six of the modern era's most stirring representatives -- among them the McIntosh County Shouters, the Seniorlites, and the Rev. C.J. Johnson & Family -- are featured on this disc. ~ Jason Ankeny Wade In The Water, Vol. 2: African American Congregational Singing - 19th Century Roots Music Wade In The Water, Vol. 2: African American Congregational Singing - 19th Century Roots Songs

This second album by the former Mouseketeer turned nymphet heartthrob breaks little new ground compared to BABY ONE MORE TIME. The formula here remains, deliberately, the same: a candy-colored mix of Eurodance, hip-hop, and old-fashioned pop ballads. As before, the lyrics split the difference between "Baby, I love you so bad," as in "Can't Make You Love Me," and "Sorry, I think of you just as a friend," ...
