| | Pete Seeger Abiyoyo CD Pete Seeger Discography of CDs
Digitally remastered by Randy Kling (Disc Mastering, Nashville, Tennessee).
Subtitled "and Other Songs for Children," ABIYOYO is one of many collections of Pete Seeger's folk songs for children. But from the colorful artwork to its kid-friendly short running length--seven brief songs, perfect for childlike attention spans--it's probably the only one that feels like an album you'd actually play for or give to a child. The songs, from the ballad-like story song "Sam the Whaler" to the downright silly "Where Are My Pajamas?," are played with easy grace and humor by Seeger, who treats each song exactly as he would a song that was putatively for adults. Never condescending to his audience or affecting a cutesy demeanor, Seeger pulls off the effective trick of treating kids not as kids, but as human beings. The result is that ABIYOYO is one of those extremely rare children's albums that's likely to please adults as well.
Includes liner notes by Pete Seeger.
Personnel: Pete Seeger (vocals, guitar).

| | June Tabor Airs & Graces CD (1976)
Abiyoyo music CDs
$12.13 Unlike some folk singer, June Tabor possesses a style that is largely free of ornamentation and enunciates well, making her easily accessible to a wide audience. Although later albums from Tabor saw her developing a "chamber folk" style to accompany her interpretations of traditional and contemporary songs, her earliest performances were unaccompanied. Her 1976 debut album, AIRS & GRACES, is her least adorned: half the material is performed unaccompanied. "Queen Among the Heather" was learnt from the singing of Belle Stewart, ...
