Decade of Hits 1969-1979 album Product Description
Decade of Hits 1969-1979 album by Allman Brothers Band was released Oct 22, 1991 on the Polydor label. Recorded during the venerable American institution's creative peak, this is an all-but-ideal single disc compilation. Decade of Hits 1969-1979 songs With all the hits (including Greg Allman's solo "Midnight Rider"), it also contains studio versions of most of the concert favorites, including the epic "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed." Interestingly, for a group that first made its mark as a contemporary blues band, not much of the material here is blues per se, with "Whipping Post" being the obvious exception. Decade of Hits 1969-1979 album This well-chosen collection demonstrates that the Allman Brothers have always been stylistically eclectic, with elements of jazz, country, soul and gospel grafted onto their basic blues-rock template. | More than "Southern Fried" This collection truly shows how great these guys were. Probably even better than Skynard. Many songs take me back to my youth; there is actually a tangible feeling when I hear them. They may be labelled "southern fried", but it is more than that. Too bad we missed out on how great Duane was and could have been. By Double G (S.A, TX) |
Timeless Classic Southern Blues Remastered All the Radio standards are here, every song brings back memories of activities long since forgotten...... By a reviewer (san diego, Ca)
A GREAT SELECTION OF SONGS DECADE captures some of the bands best songs over the first ten years together. I recommend this album to new fans as well as long time fans. Of course if you are looking for much more of their music then pick up their box set DREAMS. By Joel (Miami Fla.)
Great 70s Allman Brothers Anthology A DECADE OF HITS is a superb compilation of the Allman Brothers Band's finest 70s moments. This album features their most song-oriented material, and the only important item missing is "Stand Back." This anthology is a must-own for any rock fan. By Adam (Suffern NY USA)
Greatest Hits This is an excellent "Greatest Hits" review of the Allman Brothers Band over their first 10 years together. The included biography gives good insight into how and why the songs were recorded. By jyoung3 (Panama City, FL)
