Def Leppard's second album, High 'N' Dry, continues in the vein of the anthemic, working-class hard rock of their debut. While still opting for a controlled musical attack and melodies as big-sounding and stadium-ready as possible, the band opens up its arrangements a bit more on High 'N' Dry, letting the songs breathe and groove while the rhythm section and guitar riffs play off one another. MTV helped break the album in the U.S. with its heavy rotation of the video for the unabashedly dramatic rock ballad "Bringin' on the Heartbreak." ~ Steve Huey Between the time of Def Leppard's 1980 debut, ON THROUGH THE NIGHT, and the band's second album, HIGH 'N' DRY (released one year later), the young group had improved tremendously. An extended world tour had made the band musically tighter, but they'd also become better songwriters--HIGH 'N' DRY contains several tracks that longtime Leppard fans point to as classics. Another major reason for the group's vast improvement was that renowned producer Mutt Lange was involved in the proceedings. While the album wasn't a smash hit, it faired extremely well on the U.S. charts, due to touring and a newly born cable network called MTV, which aired Def Leppard's low-budget clips from HIGH 'N' DRY quite often. Highlights included the power ballad "Bringin' on the Heartbreak" (which would soon become a concert staple for the band), as well as the album-opening anthem "Let It Go," the instrumental "Switch 625," and the rough and rocking title track. HIGH 'N' DRY was reissued in the mid-'80s with a remix of "Bringin' on the Heartbreak" and a previously unreleased track from the album's recording sessions, "Me and My Wine." The late-'90s version deleted these two extra tracks, however. Back In The Day!!! What can I say about this album that hasn't already been said. This is Def Leppard enroute to their mighty third album 'Pyromania'. Albums like 'High N Dry' established Def Leppard as a musical force in the 80s, and rightfully so. Def Leppard was a hard rock/heavy metal band that stormed the scene with persistence and conviction, releasing four great albums before their (musical) demise. Now I know Def Leppard are still releasing albums, but don't waste your time. If you are looking to discover this band start from 'On Through The Night' and go from there. So what about 'High N Dry,' well easily put, its GREAT. Though this isn't Def Leppards best album (that title is reserved for Pyromania), it deffinately comes in a close second. Classic after classic make this album a very enjoyable listen, and it reminds you of how rock is supposed to be played. Rock is not about guys in tight t-shirts who wear mascara screaming about how hard life is, its about chicks and booze. If you are reading this and don't own this album, what are you waiting for? when def leppard were hungry this is a perfect album, when def leppard were at their best. all songs are great. lady strange, on through the night, another hit and run,you got me runnin, just classics. i think a lot of this was because of pete willis, his songwriting skills are just a lot better than what the rest of the band are capable of. pyromania had a few good tunes on it, thanks to pete willis, i really didn't like his replacement phil collen, with a name like that you should be in a pop band, which is where def leppard went, they became lame wimpy bubblegum rock, soft rock, they just wrote songs with riffs that are similar to those that pete wrote. this is how they kept going. pour some sugar on me, come on, thats garbage, do you take sugar, one lump or two, makes me laugh, you know that they are just desparate for lyrics when they write this garbage, ha ha. anyway, want to hear good def leppard. get high n dry, and pyromania a few good songs that pete wrote. Def Leppard: Joe Elliott (vocals); Pete Willis, Steve Clark (guitar); Rick Savage (bass); Rick Allen (drums). Additional personnel: Chris M. Hughes (synthesizer). Recorded at Startling Studios, Ascot, England in December 1979. On Through the Night, Def Leppard's debut album, established the band as one of the leading lights of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. While possessing the tight, controlled attack of comrades Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, Def Leppard was uninterested in the fantastic, menacing, and sometimes gothic themes ...

Personnel: Robin Thicke (vocals, piano); Bobby B. Keyes (guitar); Pro J (piano, drums); Harry King, Larry Cox (piano); Sean Hurley (bass); Herman Matthews (drums); Raphael Padilla (percussion). Personnel: Thicke (piano); Bobby Keyes, Dino Meneghin (guitar); Randy Waldman (horns); Larry Cox, Harry King (piano); Herman Matthews (drums); Rafael Padilla (percussion). Audio Mixers: Jean-Marie Horvat; Bill Malina. Recording information: Blue Jay; Record Plant Studios; Westlake. Editor: Bill Malina. Beautiful World marks the debut from one of Alan Thicke's sons, Robin. Like Morrissey, Thicke rides his last name, but musically he's on track with Jamiroquai and Justin Timberlake. He comes up with a delectable pop mix that's part Motown and part funk, giving Beautiful World a wide musical palette of sensuality and color. Thicke sets things up to be an emotional roller coaster that is self-searching and hungry for love, and such a move is impressive, but from the album opener, "Oh Shooter," one can sense the album struggling to develop into a full, solid set. Lyrically, Thicke is a little green, and as a singer his angel-like falsetto doesn't stretch far enough. He's riding the neo-soul/blue-eyed soul wave of the new millennium, which is definitely a welcomed effort inside the world of radio-tailored pop music. Unfortunately, that poses Beautiful World to get lost in the shuffle. Those who will take the time to really listen to Thicke's sweet stories will find Beautiful World to be enjoyable. "Brand New Jones" is a sunshiny groove layered in golden, synth hooks. "Flowers in Bloom" and the title track swoon with a springlike appeal; quick electronic beats soar throughout the latter, making for a feel-good moment. "When I Get You Alone" samples Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 for a funky R&B cut, and Thicke is stylishly slick throughout this sexy romp until ...

$10.15 I was born in Detroit, Mi in 1979. I started off a blessing, my mother wan't even gone to have me. She had planned to get an abortion because she was already young with two girls. "She didn't need another one". My Grandma Lee before she passed, ask "No" told my mother not to kill her grandson. Here it is my mother though she hid her pregnancy from her mother, but not only did my grandmother already know about me. "She knew I was a boy". So from the beginning I was blessed "she saved my life"! I was raised on Detroit's west side, on Woodingham. The 90's was our era. Drugs, Money, Sex, and Gangs ruled the ...
