Kiss had exploded from cult attraction to worldwide phenomenon by the time of LOVE GUN's release. Coming off 1976's classic ROCK AND ROLL OVER, LOVE GUN proved to be the last Kiss album to include all four original band members (1979's DYNASTY and 1980's UNMASKED included a fill-in drummer for Peter Criss). The album is also considered to be Kiss' last classic '70s release.

Several tracks became signature favorites, such as the album-opening "I Stole Your Love," the explosive title track, and "Shock Me" which is Ace Frehley's very first vocal appearance. As is the case with the other great Kiss albums of the era, LOVE GUN contains very little filler--"Christine Sixteen," "Almost Human," and "Plaster Caster" are all oft-overlooked highlights. An excellent effort produced by Eddie Kramer, LOVE GUN continued the trend of the band's albums going platinum upon release, Kiss concerts consistently selling out, and t-shirts of the unsightly grease-painted mugs of Ace, Gene, Paul, and Peter being worn by fans everywhere.

Recorded at The Record Plant, New York, New York. Includes liner notes by Robert V. Conte.

4 stars Love Gun Review
Kiss' 1977 release "Love Gun" saw the band offering up much of what was delivered on the previous year's "Rock and Roll Over." The recording featured more of their trademark double-barreled rock punch, seasoned with the usual heaping of sleazy innuendo and macho bravado. However, the effort also featured what may have been their first use of piano as a major hook, on the excellent propellant "Christine Sixteen." Elsewhere, Mr Stanley, as usual, delivered quality diamonds in the form of "I Stole Your Love," and "Love Gun." It was The Gene Simmons, however, who delivered his perhaps most underrated song, the swaggering "Love For Sale." The song seems to sum up not only Kiss' and Simmon's life on the hard rock road, but the rock star lifestyle in general. Sadly, the album begins to sag on its latter half, with lackluster and at times laughable offerings like "Plaster Caster," the lyrically challenged "Almost Human," and the simply awful "Hooligan." Stanley also falters on the closer, a cover of the oldie "Then She Kissed Me," a song that does not neatly sum up or close the album, and that should have been left in moldy-oldie radio. It seems the boys were running out of material, and had to make do with some of the above misfires. Overall, though, the platter still shines radiantly and feels like a smooth jewel.

2 stars Pretty crappy album in my opinion
This is a very poor effort by a band that is capable of better stuff than this."love gun","I stole your love",and "christeen sixteen",are the only tune's I can stomach on this album.A lot of people I know like this crappola, but not this fan!!! Even "DYNASTY" is better than this stuff!!!

5 stars Another great KISS classic!
The mighty KISS Love Gun. Many consider this album to be the last great KISS album. It is certainly one of my top favorites, that's for sure. The album has a slight retro feel to it, a classic Fifties/Sixties vibe permeates throughout it, in my opinion. Especially on songs like Christine Sixteen, Tomorrow & Tonight, Hooligan, and of course the cover song of The Crystals', Then She Kissed Me. And, every song on the album is pretty much rock solid. My favorites would have to start with the fabulous Shock Me by Ace Frehley. This song has the distinction of being the very first time that Ace has ever sung a song on any KISS album. He does a really good job doing it too, but the best part is, of course, his amazing guitar solo! Ace comes through and delivers the goods once again. Another strong song on the album is the title track, Love Gun, which is sung by Paul Stanley who does an awesome job as always, and making the song stand out even better is yet another excellent guitar solo by Spaceman Frehley. Still yet another favorite of mine is what I like to call God of Thunder Part 2, the great Almost Human, where Gene Simmons once again unleashes his inner Demon and growls, "I'm very hungry, and you're what I'm thinking of. Oh, Baby, Baby...So hungry for your loooove!" Ha! You gotta' love those crazy lyrics. Gene delivers two more great classics in the songs, Plaster Caster, and Got Love For Sale. Let's not forget the opener, I Stole Your Love by Paul Stanley. It's a cool little ditty sung with the usual zest and fervor by the Starchild we have all come to know and love. Well, that about covers it. All in all, It's a great album that really needs to be in your collection.

5 stars sexy kiss part 2.
boy is there a winning streak or what? the poll shows that kiss is the most loved band in america. gene simmons and his bass guitar and blood dripping crazyness, paul stanley and his macho rock star romance and good looks, peter criss may be cuddly but he is a wild cat on the drums and finally space ace from the planet of jendel. this album sadly will be the last for kiss and the golden era but that does not stop them from gaining fame. songs like i stole your love and shock me still crush your poor brain with the riffs. there was one problem. a man named george hated kiss and his website is called only solitare so if you are looking ofr anything good to say about kiss then forget it this site is for jerks like him. now we don't want to be ivan drago do we? anyway get the final piece of the yummy kiss pie.

YES! Great album! But "Then She Kissed Me" should not be on this album! Maybe it was Gene's idea??

Love Gun

Kiss' penchant for make-up was inspired by their downtown New York neighbors the New York Dolls and by Alice Cooper, who was on top of the glam-rock world when Kiss' self-titled debut came out in 1974. Rather than dress in drag as the Dolls did, Kiss fashioned their look on a mix of sci-fi and horror films, and the rock & roll of their youth. They fashioned their music on willful hard-rock arrogance. Several songs on KISS became staples in the group's catalog. "Strutter," about a beautiful woman with a confident swagger, mirrored the attitude of the band, and it contained the first of many incendiary Ace Frehley ...

Digitally remastered by Joseph M. Palmaccio at Sterling Sound, NYC. By 1975, Kiss' songs of sex, fun and rock and and roll had gained the band a loyal following thirsting for more. With their third album, Kiss did not disappoint. The ribald and rollicking "Room Service" kicks things off with a nudge and a wink; it's about getting more than just fresh towels from the front desk. The rest of DRESSED TO KILL continues down that road, whether it's Gene Simmons singing of "moving down the line/the ladies are all looking fine" or Paul Stanley describing a tryst with an exotic dancer who spotted his picture in a magazine. While his bandmates ...

Digitally remastered by Joseph M. Palmaccio at Sterling Sound, New York, New York. Before DESTROYER, Kiss' studio albums were only moderate sellers. But the band's concerts were selling out regularly, and 1975's ALIVE! album had gone gold, putting Kiss on the pop map. DESTROYER, on which they teamed with Alice Cooper producer Bob Ezrin, was the breakthrough that finally got Kiss' grandiose rock ideas down on record. DESTROYER is a chancy, ambitious album. It opens with a radio announcer reporting a teen's death in a car crash, followed by a snippet of "Rock And Roll All Nite" (which had appeared on 1975's DRESSED ...

Digitally remastered by Joseph M. Palmaccio (Sterling Sound, New York, New York). ROCK AND ROLL OVER finds Kiss at its sleekest and most pop-oriented. Fresh from the thundering success of DESTROYER, the band turned out an album jammed with brisk, mostly up-tempo numbers, among which are included some of Kiss's most memorable hits. For many of the faithful, DYNASTY marks a turning point in the Kiss story. Their first release after the members' solo albums, it was their last outing with drummer Peter Criss (he was on the cover of UNMASKED, but not the tracks within), and Ace Frehley's departure wasn't far off. DYNASTY is an album of some bombast, ...
