Just listened to a live concert of the Scorpions recorded at a small club in Chicago area back when this LP was released.

Lovedrive is breakthrough album for Scorps!
This scorpions album released in 1979 is a definite classic. It contains the typical hard rock, heavy metal formula that lots of bands would later imitate.

The Ultimate Metal Mix
Can you say "variety?" I thought you could. The genius of this album is it has something for everyone. Traditional metal cliche' like "Another Piece of Meat" (how much more metal can you get, right?), tasteful acoustic tracks such as "Always Somewhere" and "Holiday," and even a hard-rockin' reggae tune! I must disagree with the reviewer who said that "Is There Anybody There?" (the reggae-ish tune) is a weak point on this album.

Quintessential Scorpions
This album has always made me wonder how much better Scorpions might have been (than their already colossal greatness) had Michael Schenker stuck with the band.
