20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Brook Benton gathers a dozen of the singer/songwriter's greatest hits, including "It's Just a Matter of Time," "Fools Rush In," "The Boll Weevil Song," and his duets with Dinah Washington, "Baby (You've Got What It Takes)" and "A Rockin' Good Way (To Mess Around and Fall in Love)." "Kiddio" and "Endlessly" are two more of the many highlights of this collection, which certainly isn't the most comprehensive Brook retrospective available but is nevertheless a delightful introduction to his best known work. ~ Heather Phares

Prolific Singer Still Reign Musically Today "What goes up must come down" just one line taken from the song, "It's Just A Matter Of Time". When i first heard this song it was the year of 1959 and being 10yrs old out playing baseball made out of old socks stuffed with cotton on the side of my grandparents house down on the farm in Ala. Listening to the song from a radio she had placed in one of the bedroom windows, she wanted us kids to become formial with music. I will never forget the sentiments that overwhelm me that day. Even though i love that song today the memories linger on from that day. I have many more memories from listen to this cd but i won't go into them as of now. Brook died in 1988 - he was 57. Another track "Rainy Night In Georgia" released in 1970 brought back memories as well because one of my girlfriend, who lived down the street when i was 15 living within the city-limits by then was named Georgia, this girl was quite a fighter, she didn't take any stuff from anyone i saw her beat Millie with her shoe after she tore her blouse off and sent her home half-naked. Even-though Sweet Georgia is no longer with us today (Gone but not forgotten}, [blog]. I thought i would share that with you!. Order this cd and go down memory lane in "So Many Ways" Track-4. Enjoy the bonus tracks that he recored with Dinah Washington who died in 1963 at the age of 39 (another one gone too soon). I was 14yrs old when she died got a lot of memories of that year too but as time has it and Freda Payne says "Memories...memories...keep comning back" Submitted by rooseveltwllms (Detroit Mich USA) Was This Review Helpful?
