Arrangers: Giorgio Moroder; Thor Baldursson. Donna Summer's quizzical "Try Me, I Know We Can Make It" wings her nervous little falsetto from risk to dare and from dare to mad hope, and her rhythm section gropes from testy touch-beats to tightrope walkers' guitar figures and safety-net harmonies. The remaining four tracks substitute dances with imaginary lovers for her debut album's love starvation blues. Don't dismiss these subtle mood poems the way fans of "Love to Love You" sped right past the B-side of Summer's debut; the flightier Summer plays a rhythm, the dicier her resolution. ~ Michael Freedberg In 1975, Donna Sunmer's "Love to Love You Baby," a lengthy, loosely hypnotic Euro-dance track complete with orgasmic vocalizations courtesy of Ms. Summer, conquered the American airwaves. It's safe to say that popular music has never been the same since. Detroit expatriate Summer, fresh from a road tour of the musical HAIR, had a striking combination of cool anonymity and soul. Still, the album LOVE TO LOVE YOU BABY, though produced by Munich disco-meister Georgio Moroder, mainly consisted of filler apart from the monster title track. Moroder and Summer's second collaboration, A LOVE TRILOGY, suffers from no such deficiencies. The 18-minute opener, "Try Me, I Know We Can Make It," a tightly constructed and performed disco "suite," provides driving machine-like dance rhythms--techno begins here with the Munich Machine--as well as freshly conceived instrumental surprises along the way. The standout here however is a highly sexualized, lush take on Barry Manilow's "Could It Be Magic," introduced by a deliciously portentous Chopin-derived "Prelude to Love."

Classic Donna Summer Probably one of her best if not THE best of her albums - pretty much timeless and full of nostalgia. Loved it when it was first released and a MUST for your CD collection. Has to be sampled or listened to as only then will you realise just how original and compelling this album is. This is Donna Summer at her best and she has never quite been able to better this in my opinion. Submitted by Barrykingston (BRIGHTON, U.K.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A Disco Classic This album is not only a disco classic but an era classic, the song
Could It Be Magic is a must for any
70`s party and of course for lovers.
It reminded me how sensual Summer was in her songs and how happy we were those times. It is nostalgia with excitment. A must for collectors of good music. The minus is the quality of the sound of the CD, I had to put the volume up of my stero very high thoug. Submitted by a reviewer (Sao Paulo,Brazil) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
The Real Disco Days This CD brings me way back to where I was just exploring the disco scene, way back to where dancing was fun, and the music was new.
Everytime I listen to these CD's I can see my high school pals all dancing in the school gym while others just looked on. Submitted by a reviewer (Los Angeles, CA USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$9.69 Nights Are Forever was the breakthrough album for Dan Seals and John Coley after some sincere and excellent work on A&M Records in the early '70s. Love Trilogy
$13.55 Personnel: Tolbert Bain (vocals, background vocals); Treach DJ Mr. Mixx, Melvin Bratton (vocals). Recording information: Circle Sound, Inc., Hollywood FL. Nestled between two censorship cases, 2 Live Crew's 1988 sophomore album, MOVE SOMETHIN', did not ignite an uproar like the albums before or after; however, it captures the Miami foursome led by Luke on its ascent to booty juggernaut. While the hip-hop outfit was mostly known for its playfully offensive raps, the production is often lost in the shuffle. 2 Live Crew put together some of the most clever beats including "Drop the Bomb," which hauntingly blends a harsh Public Enemy loop with elements of Kraftwerk, and "Do Wah Diddy," which shrewdly interpolates its raw lyrics with the winking Manfred Mann original. Although the 2 Live ...
