Personnel includes: Donna Summer (vocals); Dino Solera (saxophone); Giorgio Moroder (Moog synthesizer); Keith Forsey, Josef Spector, Bob Conti, Pete Bellotte, Bob Esty (percussion). Donna Summer and her liberators have created one audience and redefined another, and this record's four sides of dream worlds without end sometimes manipulate each audience. The candy-girl music of "Fairy Tale High," "Queen for a Day," and "If You Got It Flaunt It" explicitly recognizes her newly created gay audience, a daring acknowledgement coming from a mainstream pop star. As for her redefined audience of naïve young things who live in the suburbs and dream of romance, adventure, and sex while they search for identity, Summer works her music into a true-to-life Cinderella story staged as four acts of impatient pulse, delirious space noise, wish-upon-a-star voice monologues, and motion. ~ Michael Freedberg Although disco is primarily thought of as a singles-based music, Donna Summer and her primary collaborators, Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte, indulged in some fairly ambitious concept albums that belie that simplistic assertion. ONCE UPON A TIME is one of their most wide-ranging efforts, a double-album modern-day fairy tale that truly only makes sense when listened to as a whole, rendering Summer's inter-song narration and Moroder and Bellotte's use of repeated musical elements much more effectively. Of course, this didn't really help the album reach its dance-floor audience; it was a comparative flop, with the single "I Love You" barely cracking the Top 40. In retrospect, however, ONCE UPON A TIME has become a firm fan favorite, with the anthemic "Queen for a Day" and the funky-yet-symphonic title track among Summer's most beloved songs.
Donna Summer Once Upon A Time Songs Once Upon A Time Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Happily Ever After... If I were allowed to own just one album in my lifetime, this would be it! Not only is this the best work that Donna has ever done, but out of a collection of nearly 1,000 CD's, this album still reigns supreme. A true classic in every sense of the word. - D.Harris Submitted by a reviewer (Lititz, PA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

Spectacular - Pure 70's spangle This ranks as one of her best. A sheer journey into way ahead of its time "Disco trance". 20 years on and its still takes me back. The production is amazing. Alongside I remember yesterday it is not only one of Donna's best but also one of the best products of the 70's

Once upon a queen!! This album was originally released in 1977 but was way ahead of it's time, and still sounds fresh today, 28 years after. The electronic perfection of 'Now I need you', 'Working the midnight shift', and 'Queen for a day', the tender soulful ballads 'A man like you', 'Sweet romance', and the upbeat 'I love you', 'Fairy tale high' and 'Happily ever after'. Perfection! Submitted by Nse Ette (Lagos, Nigeria) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Once Upon A Time
$11.19 Incl. "All For Love" W/Sting & Rod Stewart
Personnel includes: Bryan Adams, Mel C., Sting, Rod Stewart, Paco De Lucia. Producers include: BA, Pat Leonard, Bob Rock, Bob Clearmountain, Robert John "Mutt" Lange. While ANTHOLOGY provides a comprehensive overview of Bryan Adams's career and SO FAR SO GOOD anthologizes his early hits, THE BEST OF ME shows the Canadian pop-rocker's staying power by focusing on his finest work from the '90s onward. There are a couple of older tracks (rockers "Summer of '69" and "Run to You") thrown in for good measure, but the spotlight here is on Adams the balladeer, belting out lighter-waving, larger-than-life tunes like "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You." The new material here is added incentive for hardcore fans. The Best of Me acts as a kind of companion piece to So Far So Good, collecting Bryan Adams' biggest hits from the '90s, some new tracks, and some of his classic singles. Along with staples such as "Summer of '69" ...
| | England Dan Nights Are Forever CD (1976)
Once Upon A Time
$9.69 Nights Are Forever was the breakthrough album for Dan Seals and John Coley after some sincere and excellent work on A&M Records in the early '70s. Two of their biggest hits were the title track and the beautiful "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight." Those songs are a good indication of the fine performances this 1976 album contains. The duo's originals like "Long Way Home" and the Dan Fogelberg-ish "Westward Wind" could have been hits as well displaying superb musicianship and delicate vocals. This album is very much a companion piece to the Parker McGee album recorded around the same time, on the same label, with pretty much the same musicians. Producer Kyle Lehning has the sounds so similar a survey panel would probably not be able to figure out which song came from which album. What Nights Are Forever has that the Parker McGee album does not is "There'll ...

$13.69 BLESSED DEATH arrived on the metal scene in the 1984. They released their debut album ‘KILL OR BE KILLED’ in 1985 which featured their own unique blend of heavy speed, power, death and destruction. The album quickly gained a lot of attention among the underground scene, especially in Europe. It has grown to be an 80’s thrash metal classic featuring a song that has become somewhat of a legend and metal anthem ‘Knights of Old Bridge’.Two years later BLESSED DEATH released their second album ‘DESTINED FOR EXTINCTION’ in 1987. This album took on a much more extreme and aggressive direction than the first, featuring an all out onslaught ...
