Personnel: Yngwie Malmsteen (guitar, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, background vocals); Mark Boals (vocals); Jens Johansson (keyboards); Anders Johansson (drums). Audio Mixers: Ricky Delena; Yngwie Malmsteen. Recording information: Village Recorders, Los Angeles, CA. Illustrator: Dave Heffernan. Arranger: Yngwie Malmsteen. With a cover that is perfectly evocative of its music, Yngwie Malmsteen's TRILOGY boasts an illustration of the Swedish metal guitar hero battling a three-headed dragon. Not surprisingly, the album is filled with high drama and fantastical themes, whether Malmsteen is presenting a passionate power ballad (the opening "You Don't Remember, I'll Never Forget") or charging through a revved-up, solo-laden tune ("Magic Mirror"). Many of these tracks (including the aforementioned ones) feature vocalist Mark Boals, who belts out lyrics in classic hard-rock style, yet leaves room for Malmsteen's deft and ornate six-string pyrotechnics. Although it doesn't top RISING FORCE, TRILOGY is easily one of Yngwie's best outings. Yngwie Malmsteen's second best album after Rising Force, Trilogy finds him delving wholeheartedly into fantastic, medieval themes and lyrical imagery. Yngwie's compositional skills are at their peak, and of all his albums, the lyrics here contribute the most to the overall feel of the music. The guitar solos, as always, are jaw-droppingly fast and technically demanding, but Malmsteen is still capable of playing them with force and fire behind them. Highlights include "Dark Ages," "You Don't Remember, I'll Never Forget," and the epic "Trilogy Suite Op:5." ~ Steve Huey Yngwie Malmsteen Trilogy Songs Trilogy Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews excellent cd I am very pleased with this cd ,I am not a great fan of heavy metal but yngwie curled my straight edges big time. Yngwie "WOW" This album is awsome. Lightning fast, melodic, and just bad to the bone. Once you start this album you cant stop. He elevates guitar playing to another level. Every cut on this record is intense. A must have! Submitted by a reviewer (Jacksonville, NC, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Metal Masterpeice! This album is one of those albums that you can love the very first time you hear it. The songs are structured well. Great singing, and of course great guitar. Yngwie is a genius. If you like classical, Metal, or both (like me) you should love this album. This is one of Yngwie Malmsteen's best. Submitted by Ausin (California) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
great shred metal This album is great. The first song ight be a bit commercial, but the rest of the album is pretty much not commercial, just good neoclassical metal! Yngwie is the shredmaster of all times! All songs are great, and Trilogy Suite Opus 5 is really a masterpiece! Have a nice shred! Submitted by Wouter (Holland) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Yngwie Malmsteen Rising Force CD (1984)
Trilogy
$8.15 Composer: Yngwie Malmsteen. Personnel: Yngwie Malmsteen (guitar, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar); Jeff Scott Soto, Joe Lynn Turner (vocals); Jens Johansson (keyboards); Barriemore Barlow (drums). Unknown Contributor Role: Jens Johansson. Arranger: Yngwie Malmsteen. On his first solo album, 1984's RISING FORCE, Yngwie Malmsteen established himself as one of the definitive hard-rock guitar virtuosos of the era. Notably influenced by classical music, but working in the heavy-metal vernacular, the Swedish six-stringer offers up a propulsive set of songs that showcases his remarkably fleet-fingered playing, as best revealed on the urgent, ominous "Evil Eye." While Malmsteen is capable of emotive power ballads (see the plaintive "Icarus Dream Suite"), he seems most at home when blazing up and down the fretboard, as on "Far Beyond the Sun." Although some listeners may be content with THE YNGWIE MALMSTEEN COLLECTION, any true fan of the renowned ...

Trilogy
$17.39 At last a 'proper' CD re-issue for 999's legendary debut album which includes the singles "Me And My Desire", "Emergency", "I'm Alive" and the quite brilliant "Nasty Nasty". Sleeve notes and a full set of lyrics are all part of the packaging for this album that really should be an integral part of everyone's collection.
Liner Note Author: Mark Brennan . A truly neglected classic, 999's eponymous debut album was issued in March, 1978, on the back of three stunning 45s -- the romping "I'm Alive," the anthemic "Nasty Nasty," and the oddly ambitious "Me and My Desire." The first and last of these appeared on the album, together with the summer smash that never was, June, 1978's, "Emergency," and it is with these tracks as its benchmarks that 999 should be judged. A ferocious live band, the group harnessed every iota of their stage performance for the studio, turning in an album that zips past at the speed of light, in a blur of chant-worthy choruses and pogo-able riffs; even better, three bonus tracks round up the ...

$11.39 Relatively unknown before their collaboration with Ghostface Killah on the song "Milk 'Em" in 2005, Strange Fruit Project, the group of three MCs (S1 doubles as a producer, though much of that responsibility is taken over by guests on The Healing) also found a fan in the Roots' ?uestlove (which proved useful for Okay Player advertisements, of which they received a fair amount) and were able to distribute their music to a larger audience with the release of 2006's The Healing. Mr. Thompson had valid reasons for being so complimentary about them, and the impressive assortment of featured artists on The Healing (Erykah Badu, Jake One, and both Little ...
