An extended live set that concluded Yngwie's reign as one of the premier guitar heroes of the 80's. The set is comprised of many of his "hits" along with his two legendary guitar performances, "Black Star" and "Far Beyond The Sun." There is also a self-indulgent, cliché-infected guitar solo that must have excited every thirteen year old in the building. Malmsteen's playing on this set is decent, but time has not been good to this recording. It was recorded during the heyday of Hair Metal and the genre's influences can be heard throughout this session. The weak Pop songs that plagued Malmsteen's releases after Rising Force mar too much of this session to recommend it to anyone who is not exclusively infatuated with guitar pyrotechnics or 80's Metal. ~ Robert Taylor

A new classic
I think this CD -actually the complete version of the VHS- is a new classic, as "Tokyo Tapes" or "Live Evil". The songs that not appeared ("Rising Force", "Fury" and "Riot in the Dungeons")must be there (and the CD must be a double CD)because the experience is amazing. Yngwie is a god of the six strings, the sound is excellent and all the other band members are great. Year after year, I hear and love this masterpiece, 'cos it's like a good wine. BUY IT, guys!!

I liked a lot the acoustic intro before "BLACK STAR" (AIR from bach's Suite #3) and the acoustic "DREAMING" he plays an improvisation, I think is a Bach's theme, it sounds Deep and almost mystical... "LIAR", "TRILOGY SUITE", and Hendrix's "SPANISH CASTLE MAGIC", are really good!! I highly recommend this CD.

I wont bore you with the details. JUST GET IT! Its phenominal, the day you get bored of listening to this is the day you pop your clogs.
Also get Yngwie's collection on video to actually see some of the performance in this show! This guy is the master of the live stage!

Opening with a wailing blues harp and a Van Morrison-like growl,William Topley's major-league outing, Feasting With Panthers, from Lost Highway, offers a sultry mix of rocking blues and world rhythms, complete with big horn and vocal arrangements. You'll find this British-born artist, previously of the Blessing, gets around. Topley's romantic, referential songs, most co-written with other songwriters, including bandmates Luck Brighy and Jim Kimberley, are set against a shifting backdrop of exotic locations from Cuba ("La Habana") and the Deep South ("Magnolia") to the Caribbean ("Excuses"), among other hotspots, often lamenting a squandered love or the wiles of some archetypal beauty. "I heard stories that would make a tyrant weep," croons Topley on "Highway One." The concept brings to mind Bob Dylan's Desire, but Topley's travelogues doesn't conjure the same magic. Emotionally charged songs often take poppy turns, such as on "Soul I Want," "Los Largos," and "Desire is Sad." While sophisticated, the sound is also less moving.
