By the time of Eclipse, Yngwie Malmsteen's influence had spread far across the guitar community -- dazzling technique was almost a prerequisite to play lead guitar in a heavy metal band, and places like the Berklee School of Music and GIT (which used such Malmsteen favorites as Beethoven and Paganini to hone technique) were churning out guitar virtuosos as if they operated assembly lines. The bottom line was that no matter how innovative Malmsteen had been at the outset of his career, he no longer sounded that way, even though as an originator he still far outstripped his legions of mimics. Thus, Eclipse sounds like a holding pattern -- Malmsteen turns in a competent set of neo-classical rockers that achieve radio-ready status better than much of the material on Odyssey, but there isn't anything that sounds new here. Of course, Malmsteen fans wouldn't have it any other way. ~ Steve Huey

Yngwie Malmsteen Eclipse Songs Eclipse Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) Great Cd! I typically listen to Yngwie about seven hours a day and this is one of my favourite cds. The singer Göran Edman works great with Yngwie, my favourite so far. He sure beats Tim "Ripper" Owens who is on Yngwie's latest release at the time of this review on Perpetual Flame. It is a great place for a new Yngwie fan to start, contrary to another review. Great catchy tunes and great playing by Yngwie. weakest? quite the opposite The biggest disadvantage of this album is that it came right after Odyssey, which undoubtedly has been his peak so far. I love this album soundwise, musicwise and most of all I love Göran Edman's voice, the same applies for Fire and Ice. For this reason I quite loath The Seventh Sign, the singer was a failure. Eclipse is my second favourite. Submitted by David (Prague) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Great performance, Not so Heavy sounding. I believe that while stepping a litle out of his normal style, Yngwie delivered a great work. It is very accesible to any heavy-pop metal fan, but definitely is not a traditional Yngwie's work. It is still a great album. Submitted by jaimer (Mexico City, Mexico) Was This Review Helpful? Yngwie's weakest Hard for me to say this, since I love Yngiwe's music so much, but in my opinion Eclipse is probably Yngwie's weakest album. I know a lot of fans will disagree with me here! It's still worth buying, but not a good place for a new fan to start. Submitted by a reviewer (Tampa, FL, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Eclipse album
$8.15 On his first solo album, 1984's RISING FORCE, Yngwie Malmsteen established himself as one of the definitive hard-rock guitar virtuosos of the era. Notably influenced by classical music, but working in the heavy-metal vernacular, the Swedish six-stringer offers up a propulsive set of songs that showcases his remarkably fleet-fingered playing, as best revealed on the urgent, ominous ...
| | Yngwie Malmsteen Marching Out CD (1985)
Eclipse CD music
$8.09 Malmsteen's playing on the follow-up to the epochal Rising Force is slightly more raw and aggressive, but the most notable difference is the addition of lyrics on many of the songs. By his own admission, Malmsteen isn't much of a lyricist, and his frequent use ...
| | Yngwie Malmsteen Trilogy CD (1986)
Eclipse music CDs
$8.09 With a cover that is perfectly evocative of its music, Yngwie Malmsteen's TRILOGY boasts an illustration of the Swedish metal guitar hero battling a three-headed dragon. Not surprisingly, the album is filled with high drama and fantastical themes, whether Malmsteen is presenting a passionate power ballad (the opening "You Don't Remember, I'll Never Forget") or charging ...
| | Yngwie Malmsteen Odyssey CD (1988)
Eclipse songs
$7.65 Odyssey is a more subdued, polished collection seemingly designed for mainstream radio airplay. Vocalist Joe Lynn Turner gives the set a smooth, professional feel, and Yngwie Malmsteen's playing is more mellow, due partly to the fact that he was still recovering from his near-fatal car accident when the album was recorded. However, all of this works to the detriment of the music: the mellowness of Malmsteen's guitar work makes him sound constrained and passionless, and the album shows little difference in ...
| | Yngwie Malmsteen Fire & Ice CD (1992) Import
Eclipse album
$13.95 The success of Nirvana's Nevermind in late 1991 left many '80s metal guitarists out in the cold, and Yngwie Malmsteen was no exception. After leaving Polydor, he signed to Elektra and released the one-hour-plus Fire and Ice. The record is most successful when Malmsteen returns to the heavy baroque influence of his early work, and there are some fine longer compositions here that will please hardcore Yngwie fans. "Cry No More," in particular, contains an arrangement of Bach's "Badinerie." However, the record also contains flawed stabs at radio rock, such as the single "Teaser," which basically sounds like a generic, clichéd hair metal song with Malmsteen on guitar. Playing for a radio audience was not Malmsteen's strength, and with the winds of alternative rock change blowing, Elektra dropped him after only one release. ~ Steve Huey

| | VH1 Presents The Corrs Live In Dublin CD (2002)
Eclipse CD music
$6.39 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully ...

Eclipse CD music
$16.39 The Meditations - Ansel Cridland, Danny Clarke and Winston Watson collectively known as The Meditations, recorded their first hit single Woman is Like a Shadow in 1974 at Channel One Recording Studio; followed by Tricked, Babylon Trap Them, Woman Piaba and Running from Jamaica which were included on their first album Message from The Meditations produced by Dobby Dobson. Among other albums were Wake Up, Guidance, No More Friend, For the Good of Man, The Return of The Meditations and Ghetto Knowledge. The groups vocal and harmony style captured the hearts of reggae fans around the world and led to the collaboration of work with Lee Scratch Perry. Scratch, who produced for Bob Marley and the Wailers, asked them to do back up vocals for Funky Reggae Party, featuring Bob on led vocals. Bob Marley was so pleased with their harmony that he went in search for the group to do more back up vocals for him. He found Danny Clarke, one of the groups members, and put him in a taxicab and said, Me nuh wan you come back til you find the other two members. The taxi driver drove Danny to all the studios in Kingston and could not find the other members, until they drove to Idlers Rest, a street where all musicians ...
