(3 Customer Reviews)
Casual fans of Eric Burdon and the Animals may be reassured--this is NOT one of Burdon's periodic sets of re-recordings of the original Animals '60s singles. These are the original recordings, lovingly remastered and carefully sequenced into a fine collection covering the highlights of the 1966-'68 period when the band was occasionally known as Eric Burdon and the New Animals.
The original lineup, including Alan Price and Chas Chandler, had imploded, but Burdon wisely allied himself with some talented producers and songwriters and made some of the best records of his career. Those singles, from the stomping "Don't Bring Me Down" to such outpourings of Burdon's psychedelic era as "San Franciscan Nights," "Monterey" and "Sky Pilot," cannot be improved upon. Highly recommended for fans of R&B-laced psychedelia.
This collection spans 1966-1968.

Best Of Eric Burdon & The Animals Songs Best Of Eric Burdon & The Animals Music Best Of Eric Burdon & The Animals Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) Burdon I headlined this review Burdon because there is only one Eric Burdon. He had a voice that no one could copy. Could you imagine Jagger or any of the other singers who sang during the British take over years of the 60's sing for the Animals. NO WAY! Classic Burdon This is a great CD with one drawback-some of the song selections, I didn't care for, but this is a matter of choice. These are original recordings, which are the best ones, not the re-recordings of his origianl hits, as many of his CD'S are. This CD includes Burdon's greatest hits like, Don't Bring me Down, See See Rider, Monterey, Sky Pilot, San Fran Ciscan Nights, which are unparalled. Of course Burdon's style, voice, and arrangements go down in early rock history as one of the best, in my opinon.
A very good buy Submitted by bulitmustang67 (Carson City, NV. USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Animals are not a Burdon I have long been a fan of EB & The Animals and this CD is one of the best. Hits like Monterey and Sky Pilot raised my music consciousness to a new level when they first appeared on the rock scene. I bought the album and now enjoy listening to this exceptional music on CD in my car, home and work. Truly, Animals are not a Burdon. Best Of Eric Burdon & The Animals
$6.59 THE LOW SPARK OF HIGH HEELED BOYS was a big change from the quiet, largely acoustic flavor of Traffic's reunion album JOHN BARLEYCORN MUST DIE. Although the gentle opening track, "Hidden Treasure," and the meandering, mellow closer, "Rainmaker," were in keeping with the pastoral vibe of the previous record, sandwiched in between those are several increasingly aggressive and lyrically sour songs about that evergreen topic--life in a rock & roll band.

Best Of Eric Burdon & The Animals
$11.99 It's quite possible that the La's showcased on BBC in Session is the closest to the ideal sound Lee Mavers had in mind when he sweated over the group's debut. The group is so lean and clean in these 17 radio sessions that their pop sparkles. It sounds genuinely out of time, hearkening back to the golden age of British pop and pointing toward the golden age of Brit-pop, especially when stripped of the lightest production flair Steve Lillywhite imposed on the band's debut. ...
