(2 Customer Reviews)
On his fourth solo release, Tim Finn, the some-time Crowded House member (he sang/wrote on the band's WOODFACE album) and founding member of the '70s-'80s band Split Enz found himself recording in Nashville, recruiting producer Jay Joyce, who'd produced an album for Patty Griffin, and Wilco drummer Ken Coomer to help out. The resulting album sounds like it was made it Nashville by way of New Zealand. While Finn is not as sentimental in his songwriting as his younger brother Neil, they're both gifted in creating clever, pretty pop songs that have won them fans worldwide. "The Death of a Popular Song" the single from the album, is an ironic, poppy tune; other noteworthy numbers include the pedal-steel number "Good Together," and "Underwater Mountain." SAY IT IS SO is an album that shows signs of Nashville without sacrificing Tim Finn's graceful, conversational singing style to the cry-in-your-beer twang of country music. Say It Is So offers listeners the well-loved richness of Tim Finn's songs with a new found honesty and rawness. Wow. I am impressed by this. Nice songwriting and instrumentation. Quirky songs, and god, i love strings...

Entertainment Weekly (3/10/00, p.71) - "...Nashville's down-home flavor is evident on the pretty, pedal-steel-laced 'Good Together' and the ukulele-peppered 'Currents'....these precisely constructed songs of love and lonliness have more of the sentimental spring of brother Neil's Crowded House..." - Rating: B+ Q (1/01, p.108) - 3 out of 5 stars - "...Finn has a tendency to put artistic posturing above compelling tunes. Although 'Underwater Mountain', 'Good Together' and 'Twinkle' buck that trend..." CMJ (5/00, p.58) - "...Grown-up, not-very-silly love songs....killer hook[s] delivered in low-key conversational style....textured and twang-free, with tasteful use of samples and drum loops..." No Depression (3-4/00, p.118) - "...Musicians assembled for the album include Ken Coomer (Wilco) on drums, Bruce Bouton on pedal steel....results in a consistently engaging song cycle, from the upbeat 'Underwater Mountain' to the oughta-be-a-single 'Death Of A Popular Song'..." $9.79 This compilation of 14 track by heavy metal musician, Alice Cooper, features such hits as "Poison," "Feed my Frankenstein," and "Fire."
Alice Cooper has recorded for a variety of different labels over the course of his career, and it seems as if each label has issued a respective "best-of" collection. During most of the late '80s/early '90s, Alice's home was Epic Records, for which he issued 1989's Trash, 1991's Hey Stoopid, 1994's The Last Temptation, and 1995's Classicks, and this is the era ...

Say It Is So album
$5.99 Quick! How many piano-bass-drums acts can you think of that play pop-rock stuff?Come on....How many? What? Ben Folds? Billy Joel? Elton John? There's not too many, are there? That's EXACTLY why Pianocidal exists. The arena of piano rock music is woefully underexplored. When I did "Far Cry From Divine" in '99 I had an idea for a piano-dominant act. The resulting cd was the seed of my interpretation of piano rock. But the seed needed water..."Pianocidal Maniac" in 01 was, essentially, me watering myself; a collection of demo-tacular tunes designed to push the 88s into even more rocking territory. "Everybody's Ugly But Me" in ...
