Though it contains material from as early as 1990, In Extremis mostly consists of recordings from 1996 to 1998. The music skirts the more symphonic end of avant-prog, with good contributions from drummer David Kerman and vocalist Deborah Perry. ~ John Bush

It is different, but very interesting. I recommended it for the fans of KIng Crimson,Gentle Giants and univers Zero. this music it is very improvice. it is not your typical Progressive rock band. Crazed Modern Prog As an old prog head from the '70s, and a particular fan of the grim and angular music of bands like King Crimson, I've found myself recently looking for modern prog that doesn't just regurgitate the old formulas and tonalities. Thinking Plague, along with Boud Deun and a few others, are passing the tests I've set for new prog. This release has been discussed as a potential classic of modern prog, and I will agree. There are touchstones along the way that bring old timers like myself in, Crimson and Henry Cow for instance, but new elements as well that I recognize as the modern approach. Higher tech and fearsomely complicated arrangements are hallmarks for these guys. I would definitely grab this if neo prog leaves you a little hungry for more. A must have CD for any prog-rock fan On the cover of the CD appears a label that says: '...a Herculean amalgam of King Crimson, Shylock, Henry Cow, Soft Machine, Zappa and God knows...", I could add some more like Gentle Giant or Yes. The music is very complex with a lot of polyrhythm, amalgams and bizarre arrangements but the whole is really amazing. A must have CD for any progressive rock or experimental music fan. Sorry for my english. Submitted by alex655321 (La Coruna, Spain) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
emphasis on the music is what thinking plague likes to do...or should i say emphasis on the noise? Whatever you call it may, it is yet another Must Have by recommendations as far as progressive rock gose. Buy it for your own sake. $16.29 The Quill is a Swedish hard rock/metal act that combines the best of classic hard rock with alternative and metal. The group's influences come from across the spectrum, but some show up more obviously than others. First, it is easy to spot Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. Give a listen to "Sell No Soul" for a quick example of those. They also chart into Led Zeppelin territory. Check out "(Wade Across) The Mighty River" and think Led Zeppelin III. All their influences are not so old-school, ...

$13.59 The Devil's Anvil were a group of Arab-American musicians playing the New York folk and rock club circuit in the mid-'60s. They differed from virtually every other group experimenting with Middle Eastern sounds because though they were rock musicians deeply rooted to the folk traditions of their heritages.
