Chronometers album
$10.59 JUST A COLLECTION OF ANTIQUES & CURIOS collects the Strawbs work for A&M Records.
The German version has remastered sound and three bonus cuts.
This album, cut live at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall in July of 1970, was the first Strawbs album to be released in the United States. It didn't do much in the U.S., but it did chart in England, and the original concert also got Rick Wakeman his first front-page coverage in ...

| | Tom Waits Blood Money CD (2002)
Chronometers music CDs
$10.69 Contains an untitled hidden track following "A Good Man Is Hard To Find".
Like the simultaneously released ALICE, BLOOD MONEY features songs written for a Robert Wilson play. That's pretty much where the similarity ends; unlike ALICE's moody balladry, BLOOD MONEY is full of crazed, rhythmic pieces of sonic barbed-wire. The lyrics portray the main character of Wilson's WOYZECK, a man filled with madness and rage. The combination of junkyard percussion, near-psychotic vocals, and lounge-band-from-hell tones provides the perfect complement. The outlook is an unremittingly dark one, eventually bypassing existentialism ("God's Away on Business") in favor of outright misanthropy (the aptly titled "Misery is the River of the World"). The brief, Raymond Scott-like instrumental "Knife Chase" is ...

| | Mentallo & The Fixer No Rest For The Wicked CDs (1992)
Chronometers songs
$10.15 As Mentallo & the Fixer's first underground release, No Rest for the Wicked sports a coarse electro-industrial flavor perhaps more complex than their later works. The sampling is heavier than in their later work, such as Revelations 23, and often there are several melodies working at the same time, also unlike later recordings. In short, the effect of all this is a sound lacking the refinement of later Mentallo & the Fixer work. The vocal style and distortion, so often the difficult element in industrial music, are somewhat flat on this release. Also, some of the melodies are featured again in other arrangements on later CDs, and invariably the later versions prove to have the clarity this band has become noted for. However, it is these same reasons which make No Rest for the Wicked such a good listen for established fans of this raw industrial sound. This may be partly due to the mastering, this first album being a low-budget underground release. ...
| | Weakerthans Left & Leaving CDs (2000)
Chronometers album
$11.39 The personal remains the political whichever way you want to cut it. Winnipeg's Weakerthans embody this ethic better than most on their second and long-awaited follow-up to their 1998 debut, Fallow. Splitting from Winnipeg's more punk Propagandhi, John Samson is following a more melodic and introspective path while retaining much of the politics. Constructed of vignettes of precise moments in time and place which manage nonetheless to speak volumes, Left and Leaving deftly mixes social commentary with folk and punk rock. This is an intelligent, literate album, and Samson a wordsmith the likes of Elvis Costello or Ron Sexsmith. There is the nice turn of phrase with the line "I am your pamphleteer" referring as much to an absent loved one as to the listener, and on "Aside," Samson sings that he relies "a bit too heavily on alcohol and irony." While "Exiles Among You" describes the ...
