| | Millencolin Life On A Plate CD Millencolin Discography of CDs
(9 Customer Reviews)
After Swedish skatepunkers Millencolin dropped their first full-length, Tiny Tunes, in 1994, the group quickly assembled their follow-up, Life on a Plate, the next year. Both discs were originally offered in Scandinavia only, but after Millencolin began achieving substantial chart success in their home country, the group signed with Epitaph Records and this sophomore effort made its way to American shores in 1996. Millencolin's evolution toward a more song-oriented pop-punk sound is most evident on standout tracks like "Killercrush" and "The Story of My Life." The melodies and guitar riffs are tight and catchy, and the band's unique Scandinavian take on the crowded, some might say stagnant American punk subgenre of the time is as refreshing as it is accomplished. ~ Vincent Jeffries

GREATNESS. This cd is great go buy it. It's catchy but the lyrics aren't cheesy like somethin you would hear on the radio. In fact the lyrics if you listen to them close enough will make you laugh because they sing about stuff no1 else sings about. And the best part is, they are GREAT at it. Buy this cd now. Original Millencolin This is the stuff that us old millencolin fans enjoy. It's not as good as Tiny Tunes, sorry (Same Old Tunes for you newcomers), but it's the millencolin that us die hard long time fans fell in love with. My first punk CD I ever bought, after listening to a friends signed Tiny Tunes CD. Submitted by Matt, having-fun (Sydney, NSW, Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Life On A Plate album
$10.35 SAME OLD TUNES is Millencolin's first record previously available only as an import.
After Epitaph's re-release of Millencolin's sophomore outing, Life on a Plate, became an unqualified success, the label decided to offer the band's other Scandinavia-only full-length, Tiny Tunes, to American listeners. Warner Bros. had expressed some displeasure regarding the debut's artwork and title, so after Millencolin's Swedish label home, Burning Heart, changed the record's cover ...
| | VH1 Presents The Corrs Live In Dublin CD (2002)
Life On A Plate CD music
$6.19 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," and a great, leering rendition of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's "Summer Wine."
Somewhat more mysteriously, Rolling Stone Ron Wood also turns up on what sounds dangerously close to a lounge version of Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing," but this minor faux pas is redeemed by the Irish folk medley "Joy of Life/Trout ...
| | Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits Vol. 3 CD (1994)
Life On A Plate music CDs
$7.59 What could the poet, who has been called the spokesman of his generation, possibly have to offer on a third greatest-hits compilation?
Quite a lot, and by listening to these selections you realize the depth of Bob Dylan's musical inventory. This eclectic, quirky collection provides his best literate epics ("Brownsville," written with Sam Shepard), enigmatic gems ("Tangled Up In Blue" from the brilliant BLOOD ON THE TRACKS), masterful gospel classics (STREET LEGAL's "Changing Of The Guard"), effective political narratives ("Hurricane") and timeless pop classics ("Forever Young" and "Knockin' On Heaven's Door"). For the most part, these rock, folk, gospel and blues cuts are selected from less celebrated albums like OH MERCY, DOWN IN THE GROOVE and KNOCKED OUT LOADED. They should serve as entreaties to return to those overlooked treasures.
With all this album's pedigree, the unlikely show-stopper is the previously unreleased "Dignity"--it causes one to pause and note the continuing awesomeness of Dylan's craft and limitless lyrical talent. This album serves as a lesson to all aspiring singer-songwriters. GREATEST HITS, VOLUME 3, indeed--from an artist whose every song is complex perfection.
Personnel: Bob Dylan (vocals, guitar, electric guitar, harmonica, piano, keyboards); Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Brent Mydland (vocals, background vocals); Ronee Blakley (vocals); Brendan O'Brien (guitar, keyboards); Daniel Lanois (guitar, percussion); Steven Soles (guitar, background vocals); Danny Kortchmar, Billy Cross, Ira Ingber, Ken Odegard, Mark Knopfler, Mason Ruffner, Mick Taylor , Robbie Robertson, Roger McGuinn, Steve Ripley, Waddy Wachtel, Fred Tackett (guitar); Chris Weber (12-string guitar); George Harrison (slide guitar); Rick Taylor (banjo); David Mansfield (mandolin, violin); Scarlet Rivera (violin); Steve Douglas (saxophone); Steve Madaio (trumpet); Alan Clark (piano, organ); Carl Pickhardt, Richard Manuel (piano); Carl Fortina (spinet, harmonium, organ); Garth Hudson ...

| | Chris Spedding Cafe Days CD (1990)
Life On A Plate album
$12.89 This is one of Chris Spedding's strongest albums. It arrived four years after his equally impressive ENEMY WITHIN and contains 10 originals and a cover of Mose Allison's "Parchman Farm." CAFE DAYS, like its predecessor, is filled with sly rhythmic tricks. The songs seem rather straightforward, and it's with repeated listenings that the subtle powers really emerge. This is also perhaps his best-sounding work, with credit going to Steve Berlin (of Los Lobos) and Mark Linnet.
Strong selections include the catchy "Put It on Hold" (which sounds like a cross between Mark Knopfler, David Bowie, and Dave Edmunds, and features Southside ...
