Granuaile album
$18.95 THE ENGLISH CHANNEL is a band of five gifted musicians from Richmond,Virginia, whose reputation for being able to transport people back to the happiest time and place of their lives, the late 60's, has made them "the most talked about new band in the South." People who come to see THE ENGLISH CHANNEL play are taken to a virtual theme park that exists in a place known as "your fondest memories." REMEMBER? GIRLS WERE NEVER MORE BEAUTIFUL GUYS WERE NEVER MORE COOL AND THE MUSIC, THE MUSIC WAS PERFECT IT WAS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME DREAM THAT REALLY HAPPENED AND WE CALLED IT THE 60's In the mid-50's, for one brief and greasy moment, the young people of America rejected mom and dad's button-down mind set. Elvis, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry and Little Richard rode into town on radio waves and stole away the children. Rock and Roll was here to stay. Or was it? By the end of the 50's the wild young icons of American culture had either vanished or were tamed. Life had returned to the same as it ever was and it might have stayed that way had it not been for the most unexpected overthrow of the status quo in the the history of American popular culture. And we called it the British Invasion. The Beatles and their British brethren brilliantly recycled the rejected roots of popular American music and in the process, reinvented rock and roll. The resulting chain reaction jettisoned polite society and launched popular culture at warp speed into a furious orbit of unprecedented social change. The black and white world blinked and suddenly we were dancing in glorious color. Rock and roll rode television waves into our homes, broadcasting a spontaneous palace revolution, declaring "your sons and your daughters are beyond your command" placing all that was young upon the throne. It was a cultural coup d'etat that announced "this time rock and roll is definitely here to stay"! For those who were young in those heady days when the Beatles led the charge into hyper space, the years 1964 to 1969 represent a singular, unparalleled period of electric excitement when rock and roll delivered all that it promised and every day offered another new way to feel alive. And if you had the accidental good fortune to be young at a time when music was your passport to adventure and exploration, what would you give to be able to go back? What would you give to feel the way you felt when the British Invasion opened the door to the happiest days of your life? THE ENGLISH CHANNEL can take you there. Five gifted musicians from Richmond, Virginia conduct a four hour return to a time when you could be both innocent and all-knowing because the music was perfect and good times never got any better than this. THE ENGLISH CHANNEL is the American experience of the British Invasion. ...
