| | Kitka Voices On The Eastern Wind CD (1996)
Blues Is Alright Vol. 3 songs
$20.25 These "Angels of the Steppes" bring to life rich and beautiful songs of Bulgaria, Macedonia, Russia, and the Ukraine. The women of Kitka (Keet-kuh) are based in the San Francisco Bay Area, yet come from varied ethnic backgrounds. The spirit and beauty with which they sing transports you to the villages of older cultures and traditions with a feeling of the immediacy and drama of life uncomplicated by faxes and cellular phones. They sing of rivers and enchanted forests; of rushing to meet your sweetheart at the village working-bee; of helping a woman decide between the marriage proposals of a swineherd and an ox-cart driver. The ten singers use vocals almost exclusively; a gaida (Bulgarian bagpipe) is used on one cut; cello and cymbalom on another, and a third track has the accent of dumbek. Excellent in arrangement and harmony, Voices on the Eastern Wind will delight fans of all vocal traditions. ~ Backroads Music/Heartbeats

$12.65 About Someday ForeverSomeday Forever was formed in 2004 by Russ Rockett and Ron Randall, who have been playing together since they were 15. Back then they honed their skills by learning virtually every Rick Springfield and Bryan Adams song quickly followed by Van Halen, Bon Jovi, Poison, Motley Crue, Guns n’ Roses and many other late 80s and early 90s hard rock bands. Current musical influences include Green Day, Goo Goo Dolls, and Nickelback. Russ and Ron performed together in many cover bands including Phoenix and Blackout before ...
| | Mr B Hallelujah Train CD (1994)
Blues Is Alright Vol. 3 CD music
$9.05 Mr. B. (Mark Braun) is a talented boogie-woogie pianist who on this CD teams up successfully with bassist Paul Keller's Bird of Paradise orchestra, a seven-year-old big band from Michigan. The arrangements smoothly integrate Mr. B. into the orchestra and these enthusiastic live performances are often quite memorable. Although largely a "no-name" big band, the many soloists are consistently talented (with the standouts being Mark Hynes on tenor, altoist Scott Peterson and trumpeter Paul Finkbeiner) and the pianist is in consistently inspired form. Highlights include "Hallelujah Train," "Brauny," tributes to Little Brother Montgomery, Horace Silver and Eddie Palmieri, an exciting rendition of "Down the Road Apiece," "Air Mail Special" and a lengthy "B's Boogie Woogie." Highly recommended. ~ Scott Yanow
Blues and boogie-woogie pianist Mark Lincoln Braun (a.k.a. Mr. B) is a rare living link to the first generation of blues and boogie pianists. Steeped in the rich legacy of this tremendously exciting music, Mr. B learned directly from blues and boogie legends like Little Brother Montgomery, Boogie Woogie Red, and Blind John Davis. The Bird of Paradise Orchestra, now known as The Paul Keller Orchestra, has grown into one of the most active and acclaimed bands ...
