| | Ossatura Dentro CD Ossatura Discography of CDs
Ossatura is an Italian improvisation group working with electronics and noisemakers featuring the brothers Elio and Maurizio Martusciello. For this recording, they are joined by former Henry Cow member Tim Hodgkinson on flat guitar and wind instruments. Ossatura's music is characterized by sequences of sound blocks where detailed and quiet textural work alternate with rhythmic acceleration and dense sound blocks. On "Tempo... Usura," for example, the piece opens with quiet samples and accordion drones, succeeded by a driving rhythmic pattern punctuated by gong sounds. The patterns are occasionally taken up by other sound makers and other instruments, as on "Bioplast" where a similar pattern occurs first in a high buzzing register, and later amid dark rumblings. "Dentro" was recorded by Bob Drake, sound engineer for several ReR projects, and the album combines not only the improvisation but significant amounts of studio post-processing. ~ Caleb Deupree
Feat.Tim Hodgkinson

Purchase Dentro CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Diana Krall Quiet Nights CD (2009)
Dentro album
$13.69 Diana Krall's first studio outing since she and husband Elvis Costello became the proud parents of twin boys, 2009's QUIET NIGHTS finds the jazz singer/pianist turning in a serene and pleasantly subdued set. Krall breezes through a few bossa nova standards, most notably "The Girl from Ipanema" (here gender-reversed to "The Boy...") and the title track (originally "Corcovado"), both penned by the legendary Antonio Carlos Jobim. QUIET NIGHTS isn't solely a Brazilian-themed outing, however, as Krall also spends plenty of time in the comfortable realm of the Great American Songbook, offering up elegant orchestral renditions of "I've Grown Accustomed to His Face" and the Bacharach/David ...
| | Jeff Hamilton Symbiosis CD (2009)
Dentro CD music
$12.59 Jeff Hamilton's recordings have always been focused as straight-ahead and mainstream as your typical superhighway, with occasional time for rest stops, gassing up, and sleepovers. While always a good listen, Hamilton and his non-stop rotation of up-and-coming pianists and bassists never really pushed the envelope, staying the course set by his mentor, the late, great bassist Ray Brown, and other California-based coolsters. With Symbiosis, though, there's a change in the weather with the addition of extraordinary young talent in pianist Tamir Hendelman and bassist Christoph ...

| | Miles Davis Tribute To Jack Johnson CD (1970) Remastered
Dentro album
$7.59 A TRIBUTE TO JACK JOHNSON was originally conceived as the soundtrack for a documentary on the life of the first African American heavyweight boxing champion, but the album stands on its own as one of the most brilliant, compelling fusion recordings ever made. This is due in large part to the increasing influence of rock and funk on Miles's aesthetic, to the superb musicians (including Davis himself-- who turns in some stunningly vigorous solos), and in part to the production skills of Teo Macero, who collaged the album together from numerous jam sessions into two lengthy, majestic tracks.

Dentro CD music
$12.65 If you don't like Lite Jazz, Contemporary Jazz, Instrumental Pop, whatever you want to call it; stuff that wouldn't sound out of place in between David Sanborn and Kenny G on your local radio station, you probably shouldn't even be reading this far, because Spyro Gyra are avatars of the style. If their bag is your bag, however, you can feel comfortable diving right in to the sonic tapestry that is ROAD SCHOLARS. The band's synth-driven instrumental assault, led by keyboardist Tom Schuman, has remained consistent throughout their years of recording and touring together, and the ...

Dentro music CDs
$13.25 Compiled from two earlier EPs then further revamped into a cassette release, Extractioning is a brief but compelling look into Drekka (aka Michael Anderson)'s ability with a variety of approaches, from skeletal folk to guitar-derived ambience, chopped-up snippets of psalm singing to inspired cover versions. Starting with the glowering feedback loom/fragile acoustic guitar of "Extractioning," one of Drekka's best in an openly Flying Saucer Attack-styled vein, Extractioning uses its schizophrenia to its advantage -- everything feels like the work of the same person, but keeps the listener engaged with the changes as well ...

Dentro album
$14.59 Since he made his recording debut as a teenager, Geoff Keezer has consistently demonstrated a willingness to reshape familiar songs and explore a wide repertoire of music outside of standard fare. This live engagement at the Dakota, with bassist Matt Clohesy and drummer Terreon Gully (known for his work with Stefon Harris), is full of surprises. "Stompin' at the Savoy" may be a favorite of swing musicians, but Keezer utilizes an explosive improvised post-bop introduction that must have surprised his audience when he finally played a few of its familiar chords. ...
