| | Teenage Favorites CD (1994) (Import) Germany
Wild Again
$20.79 Compared with Buffalo Bop's usual rockabilly and teen-rebel collections, this 33-song compilation is kind of dorky -- sort of a nerd's picture of rock & roll (the Richie Cunningham as opposed to the Fonzie playlist). Nobody appearing on this CD ever aspired to be really cool like Elvis or Gene Vincent; Ricky Nelson was as far as they got. But it's all great fun in its well-crafted, highly produced way, and some of the artists and labels here will actually be familiar--Tony Orlando ("The Loneliest"), Steve Lawrence ("Pretty Blue Eyes"), Milo Liggett ("Gold and Silver"), and the Barker Brothers ("Hey Little Mama") recorded for outfits like Monument, Epic, Brunswick, ABC, and Hickory. The Wonders ("Cuttin' Out"), the R-Dells ("You Say"), David ...

Wild Again
$5.69 This budget-priced sampler contains ten recordings that figured in the pop Top 40 in 1985, all of them released originally on Columbia and Epic Records. Those labels also issued Top Ten hits during that year by the likes of Wham!, Sade, Bruce Springsteen, and Billy Joel, among others, but none of them are found here. Instead, the tracks are by relatively minor acts, the most successful of them being REO Speedwagon and Luther Vandross. Nevertheless, these selections present many of these artists at their popular peaks. For Eddie Murphy, Cock Robin, Til Tuesday, Paul Young, Loverboy, and REO Speedwagon, the included song was their biggest ...
| | Cranes Particles & Waves CD (2004) Bonus DVD
Wild Again
$13.45 Cranes' continual refining and reworking of their sound over the years has become a hallmark -- while Alison Shaw's distinct, childlike vocals remain an immediate calling card, the music she and her brother Jim create finds new shapes and paths. In that regard, Particles & Waves is both a logical continuation from Future Songs, the album that reestablished them as a working band, and its own lovely, mysterious self-contained effort. The sense that the Shaws' interest now lies in moody electronic music as much as guitar-based efforts has only grown, and often the combinations of the two sides make the best results. "K56" has both ...

Mike Robinson's work and life experiences are diverse and intriguing. His family lineage transcends time to the Revolutionary War, the Mexican American War, the Civil War, the World Wars, Vietnam, and his personal sacrifices during the period of the Cold War, Drug War, First War Against Terrorism, Operation Just Cause and Desert Storm. In the summer of 1979 Robinson knew the honor of serving his country when he reported to Fort Jackson, SC for the U.S. Army Basic Combat Training Course. Shortly thereafter he entered the ROTC program at Arizona State University in order to obtain a BS degree in Geography with an emphasis on Russian studies. His objective was to learn as much as he could about the Russian people, their history, language, land, culture and political ideologies in preparation to face the Soviet opposition. The 1970's and 80's were mired with Cold War anxiousness, and 2nd Lieutenant Robinson maintained a passion for winning. By 1986 1st Lieutenant Robinson served as a Field Artillery Cannon Battery Executive Officer in the 1st Armored Division "Old Ironsides" stationed in Nurnberg West Germany. In March of that year the Command honored his unit by selecting them to deploy on temporary duty in defense of occupation forces in Berlin, East German. Seeing the oppressed people weighed heavy on his heart. In April of 1986, Terrorists detonated a bomb in a popular American nightclub called the La Belle disco in West Berlin, killing 3 and wounding 200. By coincidence, many of Robinson's men were at the disco for a unit party. The next 10 hours that night and into the next morning he hurried from hospital to hospital trying to account for his men. Several times he personally provided first aid to his men lying in shock in the hallways waiting for treatment. Thus began his individual war against Terrorism and a desire to help free the oppressed. With the support of his wife, Robinson decided that he could best serve his country and make a real difference ...
