Over the course of two (admittedly lengthy) compositions, this forward-looking Montreal nonet bridges the gaps between several styles and takes listeners on a constantly shifting sonic journey. They combine the swirling atmospherics of ambient music with the uncompromising textures and socio-political vision of the Rock In Opposition crowd, framing it all in a semi-classical, string-dominated style that recalls the avant-chamber prog of Univers Zero or Art Zoyd.
The instrumental "Moya" is full of subtle dynamic shifts and intriguing sonic juxtapositions, but it's "Blaise Bailey Finnegan III" that's most striking. It features snippets of a taped conversation with an outspoken/slightly "off" self-styled poet (presumably the piece's namesake), who offers his vitriolic views on America's current political/economic climate over Godspeed's instrumental backing. Highly original and unforgettable.
Recording information: Gastation In Toronto.CMJ (3/15/99, pp.25-26) - "...a dreamy, symphonic sweep. With a mere two songs and an extra ounce of oomph, Emperor! has crafted one of 1999's best-rehearsed and most magnificent records thus far." Mojo (Publisher) (9/99, p.108) - "...operates in the unexpected terrain between stasis and rupture....Fiercely private, relentlessly experimental....If you find Mogwai dreary and uninvolving, this, exquisitely, is the real deal." NME (Magazine) (5/1/99, p.38) - 8 out of 10 - "...It's impossibly beautiful music for plain impossible times. Yes, we are a long way from home. But here, in this low and lovely noise, is a place to keep you warm." Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada Music Godspeed You Black Emperor Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada Songs | 1. | Moya |

| Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada Music Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) Classic Album going down down in history!! This is my favorite Godspeed album of all time. Blaze Bayley is my favorite track on the album, even though the old guy ripped off Iron Maiden almost directly. This instrumental post-rock band is underrated and completely amazing. If you like Opeth, Between The Buried and Me, or Porcupine Trees, this band will blow you out of the water. Avante-Garde Acid Dream Dark, brooding, apocalyptic album with dramatic dialogues. Members of GYBE! are in many talented side projects such as A Silver Mt. Zion, Hrsta, Set Fire To Flames, Fly Pan Am, the list goes on. All of those bands are genius but the ownership of this record is a necessity. The albums is very orchestral, painting vivid soundscapes in your head, the songs ranging from 12-29 minutes. F#A# is highly recommended for anyone into post-rock, avant-garde, instrumental, or just any open minded individual wishing to widen his music tastes. Highly recommended!! Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada album

Some soundtracks are more interesting for the people involved with them than for the music they contain. Such is the case with the modest movie musical The Girl Most Likely, which opened in late 1957 and spawned a soundtrack album in early 1958. The film was a remake of the 1941 comedy Tom, Dick and Harry, about a woman, played by a non-singing Ginger Rogers, who struggles to make up her mind among three suitors. The new version starred the reliable Jane Powell, the songs were written by the team of Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane, best-known for Meet Me in St. Louis ("Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "The Trolley Song"), and the music was arranged and conducted by Nelson Riddle, who did similar duties for albums by Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and others. The result was a group of competently sung, pleasant enough songs ...

$11.09 The beginning of the 21st century found the UK offering a host of new Nick Drakes like Ed Harcourt, Badly Drawn Boy, Tom McRae, etc. On the surface, Damien Rice is not too far removed from them with his intense vocal style, confessional songs, and sparse, acoustic guitar-based arrangements. Upon ...
