Although this is something of a grab-bag--a mix of live material (recorded at the new wave dance palace, the Peppermint Lounge) and studio stuff done with producer Jimmy Miller (of Rolling Stones fame)--this is a good document of the ex-New York Doll's solo work from the early '80s.
There are good versions of songs associated with his old bandmates ("Jet Boy," "Great Big Kiss"), as well as a rousing new track, the characteristically loud and snotty "Get Off the Phone." The album also features one of Thunders' best who-needs-girls anthems (titled, felicitously, "Who Needs Girls," with lyrics pasted onto Booker T.'s "Green Onions") as well as a typically endearing non-sequitur ("Okay, for all you Chicano boys," he announces, "that song was called "King of the Gypsies").
All tracks have been digitally remastered.

New Too Much Junkie Business... CD music
$6.25 On their second album Long Player, the Faces truly gel -- which isn't quite the same thing as having the band straighten up and fly right because in many ways this is album is even more ragged than their debut, with tracks that sound like they were recorded through a shoebox thrown up against a couple of haphazardly placed live cuts. But if the album seems pieced together from a few different sources, the band itself all seems to be coming from the same place, turning into a ferocious ...

New Too Much Junkie Business... album
$14.65 The Legends have gone down in larger history as, if anything, a footnote to the career of Dan Hartman, being the band he started with as a teenager and eventually ended up leading before finding wider success in the early '70s. This extremely fine two-disc retrospective, put together by the Arf Arf label and easily ranking with the best reissues and packages from Rhino or Bear Family, fleshes out the story much more thoroughly, becoming a document of a hot Central Pennsylvania act who reflected the rapid changes in music between 1965 and 1973. The second disc covers the earlier material, consisting of a live performance from ...

New Too Much Junkie Business... CD music
$6.75 Recorded between 1967 & 1970. Includes liner notes by Ron Garmon.
The members of Spirit had such wide-ranging musical backgrounds it's a wonder that they came together at all. The band managed to create four fine albums before splintering and reforming in a series of altered lineups. The group's blend of jazz, rock & roll, and pop leanings resulted in some surprising singles. Perhaps most audacious was the group's first hit, "Mechanical World." The song sounds like nothing else on the radio before or since, and says a great deal about the breadth of radio programming in the '60s.
The band's breakthrough chart hit was "I Got a Line on You." Not ...
