| | Best Of T.K. Disco Singles: All Day, All Night CD (4 Customer Reviews)
This expansive compilation focuses on a series of disco songs released on theT.K. Records label, most of which date from the mid- to late '70s. Despite the seemingly limiting "disco" tag, The Best of T.K. Disco presents a nicely diverse cross section of material from this genre: Indeed, the music covers everything from the lush, almost symphonic Euro-disco of Beautiful Bend's "That's the Feeling" to the earthy, bass-driven funk stylings of Uncle Louie's "Full Tilt Boogie." Along the way, it unearths plenty of lesser-known disco tunes that will delight hardcore fans of this style: Tempest Trio's "Love Machine" mixes symphonic lushness and percussive grooves to create a multi-layered dance track and "Plato's Retreat" by Joe Thomas is a cheeky tribute to the famous adult's club of the title that features a unique jazz-scat vocal break. A few of the inclusions don't live up to the level of these highlights (Quartz's "Beyond the Clouds" is a rather hookless synthesizer showcase that sounds very chintzy when stacked up against the otherwise richly produced tracks here), but The Best of T.K. Disco offers enough solid disco tracks to make it worth a spin to dance music enthusiasts on the hunt for lesser-known dance epics. ~ Donald A. Guarisco Best Of T.K. TK's homework is done well... After reading 2 of the reviews here, it's obvious that they are not doing their homework. Disco's true roots are funk, so no style should not be put down on this CD. TK was always a bold dance label embracing the europe stars as well as the disco acts of the US.
Fort Lauderdale was the disco capital at one point of disco (1974-1977); This is one of the reasons why. The remastering is great, although some songs had to be edited because original versions were long. They were a label king getting rights of the labels Alston,Sunshine Sound, Cat, Clouds,Good Music,Dash, Drive, Marlin, and many others. If you a true dance person, the disco tracks are more inspiring than the played out repetitive 'retro' disco songs being played. Ever wonder where some new dance songs sample? Written test tomarrow.... Submitted by jerkee (Washington,DC, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Nice Compilation As a Dj I can say that this compilation is
different from others. It's more disco-funk
rather than disco. First song is the best! Submitted by a reviewer (Istanbul, Turkey) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$15.05 Though Porcupine Tree's permanent lineup was in place by the time Sky Moves Sideways was complete, it was actually a combination of old and new, with a number of tracks once again done by Wilson on his own. Regardless of the provenance of one song or another, though, it was another fine release under the Porcupine Tree name, continuing the excellence of Up the ...
