(7 Customer Reviews)
This is an enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks & multimedia computer files.
This extra long CD showcases popular dancehall "riddims" overlaid with DJ Sean Paul's rather pedestrian "toasting." Since he possesses neither an unusual voice nor outstanding skill, this CD can become rather tiresome after awhile, especially after one too many skits on a 25-track album. Still, there are some enjoyable tunes here, namely the hit single, "Infiltrate," which burned up dancehalls with its pumping beat, and "Hot Gal Today," a duet with ultra-hot DJ Mr. Vegas, which displays an interesting blend of Sean Paul's hard voice with Vegas' smoother vocals. "Faded," a take on Shania Twain's "Looks Like We Made It," also illustrates clever treatment. ~ Rosalind Cummings-Yeates

$12.05 AND THEN THERE WAS X was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album and "Party Up" was nominated for Best Rap Solo Performance.
No other rapper exerts quite as much energy as Def Jam heavyweight DMX. With his adrenaline-pumped hip-hop anthems, Yonkers native DMX has taken the hip-hop industry by storm. His third album, AND THEN THERE WAS X came only one year after his highly-anticipated second album, FLESH OF MY FLESH..., which came only six months after his multi-platinum debut, IT'S DARK AND HELL IS HOT. With this series of rapid-fire releases, DMX was able to remain on the cutting edge of rap.
"What's My Name?" perhaps most clearly demonstrates the power of the Ruff Ryder frontman. The other Swizz Beatz-produced tracks bring forth more of the same flavor. His rough-edged lyrics and spitfire delivery will leave his "dogs" foaming at the mouth for more. Though X is backed by one of hip-hop's most prominent crews (the Ruff Ryders), the platinum ...

50 Cent was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best New Artist. GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN' was nominated for Best Rap Album. "In Da Club" was nominated for Best Male Rap Solo Performance and for Best Rap Song.
Provocative 2003 official debut from Queens gangsta-poet, includes anthemic #1 hit "In Da Club."
With its inclusion on the mega-successful 8 MILE soundtrack, 50 Cent's "Wanksta" blew up in late 2002, calling out the hypocrisies of wannabe gangstas who boast of criminal exploits that exist only in their imaginations. If anyone has the right to speak it's 50 Cent; he made his mark in the streets (not to mention newspapers) long before Eminem inked the Queens rapper to his Shady Records. In between the occasional single and album, 50 ...
| | Wayne Wonder No Holding Back CD (2003)
Stage One
$8.39 NO HOLDING BACK was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.
Encompassing hip-hop, dancehall, and straight-ahead R&B, Wayne Wonder's fifth album may be both his most eclectic record and his biggest-selling. With a delicate, high tenor slightly reminiscent of Horace Andy, the Jamaican native brings his considerable experience to bear on a variety of U.S. and Jamaican R&B styles. Delicate synth ...

| | Trojan Box Set: Lovers CDs (1999) Remastered
Stage One
$14.25 Take note of the title Trojan Box Set: Lovers. It was carefully chosen to avoid the amorphous lovers rock tag, and thus allows Trojan to dodge the genre bullet and its chronological mid- to late-'70s straightjacket. In reality, this box is an object lesson in just how meaningless the lovers rock label is. The majority of the songs are drawn from the late '60s through the early '70s, and their reggae-light stylings, pop inflections, ...
