Photographers: Michael Putland; Gary Heery. The resurrected Buddha acquired the rights to much of Rory Gallagher's prime material in 1999. They began their reissue program with his first two albums, then they moved to what most hardcore fans would consider the crown jewel of the series, a double-disc collection of Gallagher's BBC sessions. Like most lead guitarists (at least those of his generation), he would often expand his music when playing live, turning in vibrant, exciting versions of his material, peppered with great guitar solos. Although it lacks the kinetic spark generated whenever a musician performs in front of a live audience, BBC Sessions is one of the finest live sets in his catalog, thanks to its crystalline fidelity, strong performances, and classy presentation. Certainly, this collection isn't for anyone that isn't already devoted to Gallagher, but for those who are, there's plenty to cherish here -- individual solos, impassioned vocals, and good liner notes. It's an excellent, worthy addition to his catalog, and it helps confirm Gallagher's gift as a blues-rock guitarist. ~ Stephen Thomas ErlewineQ (5/00, p.125) - 4 stars out of 5 - "...Makes both a fine sampler and a de facto greatest hits package..." Mojo (Publisher) (12/99, p.126) - "...the impact of a truly definitive set: 2 hours of Rory's most inspired and/or best performances for the corporation, painstakingly reconstructed and sequenced....A sparkling collection, both sonically and musically, imaginative and compelling." BBC Sessions Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews FANTASTIC CD This one must be one of the best BBC releases: great sound, fantastic playing, nice liner notes by Rory's brother Don. Rory Gallagher was a truly gifted guitarrist, an incendiary showman and deserves better consideration by Rock And Roll historians. The live CD is K-I-L-L-E-R !!! .... hey you all new millenium rock bands ! .... listen to this and go back to school !. The studio CD requires more time and dedication but grows to outerspace with every listening. An absolute gem !.

Excellent Blues Rock! Excellent, lively CD with a great variety of blues rock cuts. I especially like the concert CD with "Got my Mojo Working" from the live disc of this two disc package. Rory Gallagher was truly unique and one of the greatest blues guitarists of all time. Submitted by jpgarvin (Brunswick, GA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
live disc the greatest - studio disc getting better the live performance is outstanding whether played loud as rock and roll or quieter - the music quality is brilliant. the studio disc takes a little longer to grasp but it grows better with each hearing - wish i'd seen rory live - only found out this year her died - still not recognised for his great talent, and a wonderful man by all accounts. One of the Best Blues/Rock CD's I have ever heard Eric Clapton, BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe Satriani, Steve Luthiker Jimmy Page and all the other guitar Gods are in good company with Rory Gallagher. I could drive all night long listening to to "A" tracks like "Got my Mojo working" or "Hoodoo Man". This is by far one of the best Blues/Rock CD's I have ever heard. Purchase BBC Sessions CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Rory Gallagher Irish Tour '74 CD (1974) Remastered
BBC Sessions
$7.59 All tracks have been digitally remastered. The companion piece to director Tony Palmer's documentary of the same name, Irish Tour 1974 was recorded that January in Belfast, Dublin, and Cork at a time when precious few performers -- Irish or otherwise -- were even dreaming of touring the trouble-torn island. Northern Ireland, in particular, was a rock & roll no-go area, but Gallagher never turned his ...
| | Rory Gallagher Live In Europe CD (1972) Remastered
BBC Sessions
$7.59 All tracks have been digitally remastered. Personnel: Rory Gallagher (vocals, guitar, mandolin, harmonica); Wilgar Campbell (drums). Audio Remasterer: Tony Arnold. Photographer: Mick Rock . After two critically acclaimed but commercially disappointing solo studio albums, Rory Gallagher unleashed this raging live disc in 1972 at the age of 23. It not established him in the States, where he had toured only once previously (with his first band Taste, opening for Blind Faith on their brief tour), and was a worldwide hit. Gallagher blasts through ...

| | Mike Bloomfield Super Session CD (1968) Bonus Tracks; Remastered

$6.75 Those familiar with the Live Adventures album these two recorded at the Fillmore West know how brilliant they could be on stage, and here's another gem, recorded at the Fillmore East this time and featuring 'One Way Out,' 'It's My Own Fault' (with Bloomfield trading licks with Johnny Winter...Johnny was signed to Columbia after this gig!). Newly remastered & now with 4 bonus tracks, 'Albert's Shuffle' ...
| | Joe Bonamassa Blues Deluxe CD (2003)
BBC Sessions
$13.89 Personnel: Joe Bonamassa (vocals, guitar); Jon Paris (harmonica); Benny harrison (Hammond B-3 organ); Eric Czar (electric bass); Kenny Kramme (drums). Recorded at Unique Studios, New York, New York. Includes liner notes by Harris Cohen. As the electric guitar ace Joe Bonamassa was so strongly inspired by blues and blues-oriented six-stringers (i.e., Clapton, Johnny Winter), many of his fans would politely pester him about doing a disc of blues standards. Originally done as a lark, the results of such a session were deemed by Bonamassa good enough to be released--hence, BLUES DELUXE, on which he covers some lesser-known songs and includes three originals. Of course, ...

| | Ross Christopher River Child CD (2008)
BBC Sessions
$11.49 Not since the emergence of John Popper and Blues Traveler in the early 1990’s has an artist successfully brought a non-traditional instrument to the forefront. Following in the same trail-blazing footsteps is ROSS CHRISTOPHER, an artist that plucks the electric violin from complete obscurity and places it front and center, holding down main melodic duties in a forward-thinking alternative rock sound.ROSS CHRISTOPHER is “intensely original,” creating gritty acoustic textures and delivering them with confidence and zeal. Clearly influenced by groups such as Dave Mathews Band, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, and U2, ROSS CHRISTOPHER weaves intricate sonic textures while telling stories accumulated along life’s long, winding road. Resonating with questions, intimacy, faith, love, and tales of growth and transition, the lyrics are ubiquitous and speak to the human experience. With songs arranged to pop-perfection, it’s only a matter of time before ROSS CHRISTOPHER rises to the top of the charts.Ross Christopher\'s 5th album, The River Child, \"just might be one of the more eclectically exciting albums to grace the market in 2008. Ross Christopher\'s The River Child soars at times like Radiohead, rages like Spirit Of The West and has ...
