Recorded on tour during February and March 1972 Rory Gallagher's LIVE! IN EUROPE broke into the Top 10 of the UK albums chart, consolidating the success of his first two studio offerings. Rory's high-octane blues-rock was well suited for the stage, a fact to which anyone who saw him in concert or has heard this or other live albums like IRISH TOUR '74 and STAGE STRUCK can attest.
The set kicks off with two rockers, Junior Wells' "Messin' With the Kid" and the original "Laundromat," before Gallagher slows down for "I Could've Had Religion" and Blind Boy Fuller's "Pistol Slapper Blues." The pace quickens for "Going to My Home Town," a showcase for some fierce acoustic guitar playing with enthusiastic audience participation, and the rocking boogie of "In Your Town." "Bullfrog Blues" provides the finale during which the other two thirds of the power trio--bassist Gerry McAvoy and drummer Wilgar Campbell--get to solo for the appreciative crowd.
All tracks have been digitally remastered.

You will soon feel better! I once had a flexible give away magazine single of Bullfrog Blues and I'm sure t was a different take; may even have been a studio version? I heard this 34 years ago and the years havn't diminished the power of Rory and the band's performance Submitted by neil.thompson (Northumberland) Was This Review Helpful? Blues Rocker Indeed !!!!! Thank goodness they remastered this impeccable piece of recording history. There never will be anyone like Rory Gallagher again. The man had such a finesse for his axe. He could take you to the blues mecca and let you back down easy. I was fortunate to be able to see Mr. "G" in the early seventies before he was a mainline act. He was warming up for Fleetwood Mac version with Bob Welch and Danny Kerwin.
At the time I'd never seen to many blues artist, much less a group who did an acoustic part of the gig. He just played his heart out with that acoustic guitar, and when he started the electric portion back up, he blew the roof off the arena. My choice on best track is "Bullfrog Blues". Bar-none killer. I highly recommend this, that's why I gave it 5 stars and it should be 10 stars. Submitted by George (Okieland, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Rory's Best Bought it in 1972 and later got the CD. Saw him play it live in 1973 and it still blows my mind. No one played guitar like him. Submitted by a reviewer (Aberdeen, Scotland) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

Line and Kickin' It was always said that Rory Gallagher was best seen live. This digitally remastered album proves it. The raw power is amazing on Messin' with the Kid and Laundromat, and his guitar work bares comparison with the best. The final track, Bullfrog Blues, just blows you away. RIP Rory. $7.59 The resurrected Buddha acquired the rights to much of Rory Gallagher's prime material in 1999. They began their reissue program with his first two albums, then they moved to what most hardcore fans would consider the crown jewel of the series, a double-disc collection of Gallagher's BBC sessions. Like most lead guitarists (at least those of his generation), he would often expand his music when playing live, ...
