RAMBLIN' MAN is a product of the most creatively fertile period in Waylon Jennings' career. In the mid-'70s, Jennings' outlaw stance was still fresh and challenging, and the records he made with his Waylors were imbued with the same energy the group put into its countless performances of the period.
Jennings' rock-friendly aesthetic is advanced here by a version of the Allman Brothers' "Midnight Rider" that fits his rough-and-ready image like a glove. "The Hunger" is a lyrically sophisticated ballad reminiscent of the more introspective work of Mickey Newbury or Danny O'Keefe. "I Can't Keep My Hands Off of You" is full of the kind of assured lustiness for which Jennings' husky voice is such an effective conduit. The occasional string section or vocal obbligato may crop up, but for the most part, the Waylors play it gritty and soulful throughout RAMBLIN' MAN, providing the perfect context for Waylon's outlaw manifestos. Three bonus tracks are added to this reissue, including the poignant but unsentimental "The Last Letter," previously available only in a live version.

Waylon Jennings Ramblin' Man Songs Ramblin' Man Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Vintage Waylon Jennings This is vintage Waylon Jennings, the master doing what he does best - wrapping himself around a song like no other country singer. A must for any serious collector of country music. Submitted by Nancy (Crystal River, FL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Classic Waylon You won't find anything quite like the classic country/rock blend of 1970's Waylon anywhere in the music industry today. Back when country music was just that, COUNTRY, and every artist had a heart and soul, not a stylist, publicist, and money-hungry manager guiding their choices when it comes to pop-covered material and mainstream production methods, classic artists like Waylon Jennings, Emmylou Harris, and Willie Nelson pumped out country/rock influenced albums that have stood the test of time with enriching, even revitalized effect.
One of the last albums Waylon recorded in his renowned "Outlaw" style, Waylon rocks it and croons it like no other. "Ramblin Man" exposes a softer side of Jennings, revealing an emotional array of heartache, loss, longing, as well as the coming of age, its deterioration of physical life and its impending wisdom. "Ramblin' Man" is a classic for all classic country music fans, as well as classic rock fans looking to broaden their stylistic horizons. Long live the legend of Waylon Jennings, for when he left this sad ol' world behind, he took a piece of the artistic purity, the once defining quality of the country music industry, along with him.

Waylon Jennings At His Prime Just picked up Ramblin'Man CD by Waylon Jennings to replace my worn and scratched vinyl copy. Anyone who wants to listen to Waylon when he was at his prime could not do better than Ramblin' Man. The CD is perfectly remastered and includes three bonus tracks I never heard before. This was my first purchase from CD Universe. I was very pleased with the product quality and service I received. Submitted by a reviewer (Buffalo, N.Y., USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A MASTERPIECE This album is a masterpiece! It is a true country classic. Waylon is at his prime and is better than ever. Ralph Mooney's pedal steel guitar playing is amazing and it really shows on all the tracks especially the not as popular tracks. This album has quite a few hits like the title track, "Rainy Day Woman" and "Amanda". Excellent version of "Midnight Rider" too. The 3 bonus tracks are awesome, I don't know why they were left off the album. If you are looking for REAL country music pick up this classic album by Waylon. Ramblin' Man album
$7.59 This is the quintessential "Outlaw country" album. Waylon Jennings spent the early '70s working his way up to this rough-and-tumble masterpiece, arguably the finest album of his prolific career. Jennings was so taken with the songwriting of Nashville rowdy Billy Joe Shaver that he decided to record this all-Shaver album (with the exception of the Fritts/Seals-penned "You Asked Me To"), which helped put Shaver on the map as the poet laureate of the Outlaw set.

$9.85 Pay the Girl is a Cincinnati quintet with a refined alternative sound reminiscent of the Verve Pipe or Matchbox 20. Led by the strong vocals of Jason Phelps, the band also features guitarists Mark Cooper and Dave Harris, bassist Drew Phillips, and drummer Greg Braun. Their self-titled, major-label debut for TVT is a collection of mid-tempo pop, polished to a high-quality sheen by four producers in three different studios. The single "Freeze" features a can't-miss vocal hook that will sound great coming out of a car radio; "Beverly" will also. ~ Johnny Loftus

Ramblin' Man CD music
$17.69 The rarely recorded traditional music of the Mon people is vanishingand endangered, highly developed, and barely known even to Asiantraditional music connoisseurs. Historically the Mon were a dominant, highly cultured, and influential people in Burma more than a thousandyears ago. There are several instruments peculiar to the Mon. Most recognizable isthe Kyam (crocodile zither), a 3-string long zither with frets that isshaped like a crocodile. Another is the Batt Kine, a row of 14 or sopitched gongs that is upturned at both ends like a crescent. Also, there is the Mon violin, a 3-string fiddle with a western-like bodyplayed upright. This is incredible music with an unique character!Recorded in Yangon, Burma by noted musicologist Rick Heizman, the Nai Htaw Paing Ensemble are recognized as masters of traditional Mon music. There is currently an effort by concerned Mon people to revive and preserve Mon culture, language, and identity, and this recording will help further this effort.INSTRUMENTATION:Kyam - The kyam is perhaps the most distinctive Mon instrument. It isoften referred as the crocodile zither, and in Burmese language it iscalled migyaung, mi kyaung or mijaun. A 3-string, long, frettedzither, the body is carved into a crocodile shape.Bat Kine - Another uniquely Mon instrument is the row of gongs knownas the Bat Kine. Rather than the circular set of tuned gongs used inBurmese, Thai, Cambodian, and Laotian music, the Bat Kine is shapedlike a quarter full moon, upturned steeply on both ends.Pone Pon - Underpinning most Mon (and Burmese) music is a small set ofdrums played ...
