Personnel: Willie Nelson (vocals, guitar). This collection of obscure and well-known Willie Nelson recordings features songs like his own "Night Life" and "Funny How Time Slips Away," as well as Fred Neil's "Everybody's Talkin'" and Kris Kristofferson's "Help Me Make It Through the Night," all recorded over three decades between the 1960s and the '80s. Classic Willie may not be all that the title claims, but BMG Special Products' budget-priced sampler does have a good cross-section of Nelson's RCA recordings, including versions of "Night Life," "Crazy Arms" and "Funny How Time Slips Away," plus the minor hit "Once More With Feeling." There are some very good moments here, but since these aren't the best-known versions of these classics, it's not necessarily a great bargain for budget-priced collectors, even if the music is pretty good. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine Classic Willie may not be all that the title claims, but BMG Special Products' budget-priced sampler does have a good cross section of Nelson's RCA recordings, including versions of "Night Life," "Crazy Arms," and "Funny How Time Slips Away," plus the minor hit "Once More with Feeling." $18.49 Return To Summer Lake is Steven's third recording. Special guest artists on the CD include Molly O'Brien, Nina Gerber, Debi Smith, SONiA of Disappear Fear, Pete & Maura Kennedy, Al Petteway & Bruce Molsky. Steven Bio:Billboard Magazine describes Steven Gellman's music as "intensely sensitive and impressively intelligent at the same time". As another reviewer aptly phrased it, Gellman's songs are "Kodak moments" from his life.He often performs in nursing homes and retirement communities, and even used a choir of senior citizens as backup on the track "Almeda at 90" from his album "Photobook". Dick Cerri, President of the World Folk Music Association says "Steve's natural ability on stage enables an audience to not only enjoy the songs and stories, but to participate in the performance."Nowhere is there a better example of how Gellman touches people's lives than the story of fan Jennifer Baker, blind and wheelchair bound from a lifelong struggle with kidney failure. She first heard Steven at a Borders ...
| | Toby Keith 35 Biggest Hits CDs (2008)
Classic Willie
$14.89 Photographer: Richard McLaren. While the two-disc 35 BIGGEST HITS is far from the first Toby Keith hits collection, it's easily his most comprehensive to date, including the biggest songs from every stage of the country superstar's first 15 years. It moves from early hits like "A Little Less Talk and a Lot More Action," which found him coming on like an Alan Jackson-esque New Traditionalist, to catchy, in-your-face anthems like "How Do You Like Me Now" and "I Wanna Talk About Me." Naturally, it also contains Keith's controversial post-9/11 "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)," as well as his most mature work, such as latter-day smashes "Big Blue Note" and "A Little Too Late." It all adds up to a definitive portrait of an American original. For many mainstream listeners, Toby Keith first appeared on their radar in 2002 with "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)," the blistering counterpoint to Alan Jackson's sorrowful "Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning" that turned Keith into a talk radio phenomenon and a genuine American star. Like many ...
| | Hank Williams Revealed: The Unreleased Recordings CDs (2009) DGBK
Classic Willie
$30.54 Liner Note Author: Colin Escott. Photographers: Colin Escott; Jett Williams. 1951 was a breakthrough year for Hank Williams. He had a string of moderate country hits already under his belt, but the release that year of his version of an old jazz age novelty tune called "Lovesick Blues" suddenly made him a big star. It also meant his touring schedule increased, but he still found time that year to slip into Nashville and prerecord shows for the Mother's Best Flour Company. These good-natured and intimate performances were cut to acetate discs and then played over the air on Nashville's WSM radio station. Brittle, disposable, and made for only a few plays, these acetates were then shelved and forgotten until they were literally rescued from the trash in the '70s by an alert WSM employee. In all, 72 of these shows survived, containing some 143 songs, and this three-disc set is the second installment in Time Life's CD preservation of this amazing treasure ...

$13.15 CANCER did not stop me from finishing, SHAYA, my second studio release. I survived surgery and chemotherapy and life has never been better. This collection of songs and recordings started back in 2003 when I had to fight the "Immigration Man" in order to get my girl--friend into the U.S.A., I won. They gave us 90 days to prove our marriage, so we drove up Hwy. 1 from Los Angeles to Big Sur where I pledged my allegiance to my alien (on the 89th day). It wasn't long after that we were pregnant with our first "Baby" son, Shaya. "Waiting For Shaya" was a nine month trip and 32 grueling hours of labor. Finally we had to cut him ...
