This is an Enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
Recorded as St. Etienne was on an extended hiatus, Sarah Cracknell's solo debut Lipslide is a breezy, endearing record that wears its lightweight aspirations proudly. Divided equally between Euro-dance and British Invasion pop, Lipslide is a triumph of style over substance, but its surfaces are so appealing that the uneven songwriting doesn't matter. And when Cracknell's writing does succeed, as on "Anymore," and "Ready or Not," Lipslide shines with both infectious, well-crafted melodies and sparkling, sunny charm. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

All the material here is strong....[Her] gifts for a catchy melody and sultry, charismatic voice have been big keys to [St. Etienne's] success..." Magnet (4-5/00, p.69) - "...a study in elegantly cool, Dusty Springfield-like divadom....She offers continental delicacies and homespun confections....It's a sweet gift..." CMJ (2/7/00, p.20) - "...very much in tune with St. Etienne's retro-futuristic fusion of Brit pop and post-rave grooves....[Her] whimsical ballads are enlivened with moving guitar passages and energetic brass/piano counterpoints....This is a lost gem that you won't want to overlook twice." Lipslide album
$38.49 DREAMS is a 4-CD box set compiling in chronological order tracks by the Allman Brothers Band, as well as tracks by bands featuring one or more member of the Allman Brothers Band and solo performances by Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts.
Recorded between 1966 & 1988. Includes a 32-page illustrated booklet and liner notes by John Swenson.
Like nearly all box sets, DREAMS has plenty to recommend it-and a few nagging drawbacks. The set's chief shortcoming is its two conflicting goals: providing an ...
| | Saint Etienne Good Humor CD (1998)
Lipslide CD music
$9.89 GOOD HUMOR contains a bonus CD that is limited to the first 10,000 copies.
St. Etienne's fourth album, GOOD HUMOR, abandons the dance elements of earlier releases to focus on the ultra-melodic Bacharach/Wilson/Beatles pop that has always been at the root of the band's music. The record sounds swoon-inducingly gorgeous. ...
| | Saint Etienne Interlude CD (2001)
Lipslide music CDs
$12.39 This is an Enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
This collection contains b-sides from the SOUND OF WATER album, as well as various unreleased tracks and remixes.
Fans of Saint Etienne who aren't quite dedicated enough to pay attention to the singles could be easily tricked into thinking Interlude is a new studio album. Given a different title and the subtraction of the two extraneous remixes at the end (the single mix of "Boy Is Crying" and the Trouser Enthusiasts mix of "Lose That Girl"), this would stand up pretty well as a follow-up to 2000's excellent Sound of Water. With the exception of three new compositions and their cover ...
| | Souther-Hillman-Furay Band Trouble In Paradise CD (1975) Souther Hillman Furay Band
Lipslide songs
$9.69 With producer Tom Dowd, known for his work at Atlantic Records, at the helm, the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band seemed to be distancing itself a bit from its country-rock roots with its second release, the appropriately titled Trouble in Paradise. Here the band expands on the funkier aspects of its debut album, while at the same time slipping even closer to the middle of the road. On that record it was former Poco frontman Richie Furay who was responsible for the highlights, but this time out it's J.D. Souther, who penned four of the LP's nine tracks, who leads the way, with "Prisoner in Disguise" (recorded that same year by Linda Ronstadt) and the title cut the standouts. ...
| | American Flyer/Spirit Of A Women CD (2004)
Lipslide album
$13.59 Originally released on United Artists. Includes liner notes by Richie Unterberger.
American Flyer has long been a favorite of singer/songwriter, L.A. country-rock, and '70s soft rock aficionados, partially because of the group's supergroup status, but chiefly because the music they made was very, very good. That pedigree was indeed impressive, with the four members consisting of former Pure Prairie League member Craig Fuller, Eric Kaz of the Blues Magoos, Doug Yule of the Velvet Underground, and Steve Katz, formerly of Blood, ...
| | Motorhead No Remorse CDs (1984)
Lipslide CD music
$18.65 There have been dozens and dozens of Motörhead compilations released over the decades, but the first one remains definitive, even if it's not perfect. Released in 1984 as a gap-filler -- for Motörhead were regrouping in the wake of the bandmember shuffling that followed the odd Another Perfect Day album -- No Remorse compiled two-dozen songs across two discs (latter-day editions adding a good serving of bonus tracks, too). Many of the band's best songs to date are here, like "Ace of Spades," "Stay Clean," "Overkill," "Bomber," and "Iron Fist." There are also four new recordings that were cut exclusively for No Remorse: "Killed by Death," "Snaggletooth," "Steal Your Face," and "Locomotive." These four songs were cut by the newly instated four-piece lineup that would go on to record Orgasmatron (1986): guitarists Michael Burston and Phil Campbell, drummer Peter Gill, and ...

| | Marsupilami CD (1970)
Lipslide songs
$17.45 Marsupilami's debut album is about as ungainly as the group's name in its strident, mordant, early progressive rock. There was a very large undertow of obscure albums with morose melodies, fuzz guitars, and organ at the end of the 1960s and ...
